Obama Girls Prepare For First Day Of School Monday

President-elect Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, and daughters, Malia and Sasha, left for Washington on Saturday, a day ahead of him, so the young girls can get a head start on preparing for their first day at a new school in the nation's capital on Monday, aides confirmed.

I don't blame Obama for sending his kids to the finest schools, as every parent wants the best for their kids. I just wish I had that option, but the democrats have never supported school vouchers so my kids will never get that chance. It is amazing how so many politicans take money from the teachers unions (public school teachers) yet send their kids to private schools. That is hypocrisy with a capital 'h'.

Jimmy Carter initially tried sending Amy to public school in DC. He had to move her to a private school, if I recall it was Sidwell Friends, after a short period of time because the public school could not provide adequate security and her presence was too disruptive to the other students. Sidwell Friends, Cathedral, Georgetown Prep, and the many other fine private schools are quite used to dealing with security issues as many students are the children of government officials and foreign emissaries. The Obamas decision was about security not status.

It was for privacy and security. With not only all the crazies out there the press is fearful enough for two little girls.

Also, I am sure the security team had something to say about the choice as well.
