So when the Democratic Senate Majority leader actively works against the appointment and seating of any African American for the vacant Illinois US Senate seat it's not racist because Reid says he's just looking for someone who he, Reid thinks will win the election? For a senate seat previously held by an African American Reid claims an African American can't win the special election. Well thankfully he a Democrat because if he were a Republican doing exactly the same thing under exactly the same circumstances a Republican would be vilified racist along with the party.

Reid better seat Burris, and he had better NOT allow Coleman back as was being *negotiated* on Friday. I sure wish that MTP was live and had a call-in - I'd start dialing now to give him a piece of my mind.

For you all out there, stay off Burris' case if you don't want the R label. It has come down to it. Dems better seat Burris or they will pay dearly. I sense this within the black community. And they are right that if it walks like a duck, it is a duck! There is no other way to see the R-word mark on some Whites, including captain Reid.

Did I just say that? okay not all whites. I'm not included too!

Reid sh*t in his pants. He soiled himself. He will pay the price and dearly. We don't want R_A_CI_TS, period. And if you support him, you are one!

Reid being the WUSS he is will buckled like he did with LIEBERMAN. He should ask Hillary for his manhood back. As she's obviously got a pair she borrowed from someone. So it's got to be Reid. While she's at it she can give him his SPINE back too.

I wonder what would have happened if Fitz would have indicted the Gov prior to all of this happening?

Unless he was in impeachment proceedings his appointment is still legal.

I don't remember who, but someone, somewhere, at sometime, said that Democracy is messy. This particular shenanigan with Blago, and his appointment of a Senator after being arrested, seems to confirm that point. Still, the messiness of democracy is sure preferable to the neat and clean efficiency of a dictatorship. It will be fascinating to see how this mess gets cleaned up.

So, if Reid called Blago before the news conference and subsequent arrest, it should be interesting to hear that tape. The Governor of Colorado appointed someone for the empty seat in Colorado. Nothing said. The Governor of New York is considering a slew of contenders for Hillary Clinton's seat. Nothing said. Only when it concerns an African American, everyone has something to say. Follow the dots . Lisa Madigan was the first to try an illegal court maneuver against Blago. The Illinois Supreme Court would not even consider her pitiful obtuse filings. Now she wants to represent White in court against Blago. Madigan was one of the names given to Blago by Reid. The Democratic party is so silly to fight against their own appointee, after all the talk about trying to get 60 votes in the Senate. Obama is trying to be a team player, but look at his team. Emanuelle, Clinton, Biden, Reid, Frank, Pelosi, etc. He should watch his back. The first thing he does is say he agrees with the Senate leadership. He is in essence saying an African American should not be seated in the Senate seat he once held. The whole thing is surreal. The only thing that will save this country is following the rule of law as prescribed by the Constitution. If not this system, wounded by the Bush administration, will slowly disintegrate.

too bad for your phony outrage the majority doesn't agree with you.it has nothing to with burris being AA but the fact that he would allow himself to be a pawn in Blago's game. Obama has raised the standard we of the AA community require more of our representatives more than shared pigmentation.

So, is the black man who declined the appointment also a racist? Get real. It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with corruption.

Burris was strongly rejected by the people of Illinois

Rejected as Mayor, Rejected as Governor, Rejected as Senator and so you think Burris should be entitled to represent the state of Illinois when they clearly spoken that he services were never need it.

"He lost a total of five elections, and never got past a primary. He was last elected for public office in 1990, just over 18 years ago. He has been a lobbyist/ lawyer/ consultant, and has received more than $700,000 in fees from the State of Illinois, under Blago. He has reportedly donated $14,000 to Blago's campaigns"

Burris was so pathetic that Reid didn’t even have him on his discrimination list

nomobull, I agree with your statement completely! The outrage is not Burris personally, but the audacity of Blago in playing the 'game' and allowing race to enter into the fact, as Willie Lynch so decreed in the 18th century. This is how you play the game. Surely there are those in Burris's era who aren't completely aware of the rules of their game, and have played it for their own personal gains. But be it known that there are those of us who know the 'game' that is being played, and there are those of us who are the 'players' and partakers of the game.

All the while, talking out the side of their mouth.

He makes a point. Majority is not always right as in this case. What about Jackson? Why did Reid refuse Jackson? And BO thought Jackson was qualified! Is this not ra_ci_sm?

Even though the whole chain of events regarding PEO's vacant seat is disheartening, I can't help but wonder what a meeting between these two will be like and what the likely outcome will be. I am sure it will be a very interesting conversation to say the least.

Harry Reid:
As an African-American who is extremely proud of PE Obama, please, do not seat this man. We have worked long and hard and racism is not the way to get seated. I absolutely disagree with Bobby Rush. We don't want it like this, nor do we want it coming from Rod Blagojevich. He has ruined everything and Burris is an opportunist. Stick to your previous decison, DEMOCRATS ON THE HILL.

So I guess women should protest seating Lisa Madigan, who wouldn't be Attorney General without her father's influence, or Tammy Duckworth, who couldn't win her Congressional race. And yet these two are preferred by Harry Reid. Why? Is sexism the way to get seated? Or is it that Reid doesn't want ANY black candidate to get the position?

Even if you could defend Reid's actions - and I sure won't - what makes him so sure that a black candidate couldn't win statewide? Obama did. Carol Moseley Braun did. Our current secretary of state in Illinois is Jesse White, a black man. And, oh yeah, Roland Burris did - he was elected Attorney General.

was her father a crook and losing a race fair and square is not even in the ball park as trying to sell a seat for profit. or are you one of those trying to convince yourself that the tape is a fake.

This is so refreshing to read after reading many of those who seem to be so desperate for an AA in the Senate that they are willing to accept an inadequate one.

Why are we lowering out standards; Obama is a prime example that if you work hard and are able to connect with the people, they will connect back with their full support.

But Burris only way to win support is to play the race card by soliciting the help from the out-of-day former blackpanther Bobby-Rush. We already have one George W. Bush who was selected into office by the Supreme Court we don't need another one.

In America, guilt by association is not permissible. Also everyone is presumed innocent until proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are guilty.
