Arrangements are under way for a Wednesday meeting between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Roland Burris, the Democrat tapped by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to succeed President-elect Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate, ABC News has learned.

I'm telling you that this Burris thing is just a diversion to keep us occupied while the "I" is busy starting another war. Why are we not talking about "I" and how much influence they have on our politics.

Reid need to extract his head from his back side he should greet Burris with open arms as a Democrat I think it's time of Harry to give up his chair he prove to be more of a embarrassment than a leader.
The same can be said for Pelosi. They BOTH have done a really bad job, particularly considering they were leading majorities in both houses. What was the term I saw written about them ? "learned helplessness". How appropriate.

For a real important political development Franken is ahead by 225 after the absentee votes that both camps agreed on counting have been counted in MN's Senate recount.

So after all the votes are counted in the recount Franken actually has 10 more votes than Coleman did the night after the election.
I would like to be the first one to officially congratulate Senator Franken for being tough and not giving into the Rethuglican party to gain a well earned Senate seat.
The Dems with 59 seats now and with Salazar replaced by the more progressive Bennet, the Dems should find it relatively easy to have a filibuster proof majority with Snow, Collins and Specter as moderate NE Republicans that will be pressured by their constituents not to become obstructionists.

I hope Reid enjoys eating crow. There is no reason that Burris can be denied being seated in the Senate. Reid screwed up. Now Reid will have to back down and I suspect that the meeting that is being arranged is to try to come up with a way for Reid to back down without looking really stupid.
It's too bad that Reid didn't have as much backbone when he should have been standing up to the Republicans for the past year.
Why is Hu Po trying to get us to blog on this, this same story has been around for days now. How about allowing us to blog on what's happening now, stop shutting our blogs down when we use the ... Harry Reid: The Most Corrupt of the Corrupt?
Interesting blog, but misleading title.
The only person that should be worried about serving under a shadow is Reid himself. Where was he on Iraq, wiretapping, torture and bankruptcy bills? Willingly serving his master George Bush. Now all of a sudden he grows a pair......
I don't see how Reid comes back from this, if he seats Burris he's done.

Why? For two years now he's bent over backwards to enable G eorge B ush and the R epublicans to destroy the country. Why would seating B urris, who meets all the qualifications to serve in the Senate and didn't buy the seat (cough, cough C aroline K ennedy) finish him.
I strongly disagree! Reid bent over FORWARD to accommodate them.
Because the majority of public don't support Blagojevich and Burris' behavior. The public doesn't want a man who couldn't get elected by the people of Illinois going through back channels in order to get appointed by a corrupt Governor.
I think that he is done in any case that develops..
I really pray that all the obstructionists in the Congress will change their tunes when Obama comes into office.
