UPDATED: Sherri Shepherd's Tense Flight With Jeremy Piven, Piven's Response (VIDEO)

On Tuesday's "The View" Sherri Shepherd read aloud from a lengthy text message that Jeremy Piven sent her late Monday, following her story from Monday's show about being on a flight with an annoyed-seeming Piven (as recounted in second video clip below).

Piven wrote Shepherd, who had been on the flight with her boisterous 3-year-old son Jeffrey, that he was so sorry he did not recognize her and looks forward to seeing her soon.

Piven is quoted as writing, "I felt so foolish for not recognizing you... The last thing I would want to was offend you or your adorable son Jeffrey... I could tell... what an incredible mother you are."

After reading it, all the ladies let out an, "Awwwwwww...."

Monday "The View" returned live after two weeks for the holidays. Over the break, co-host Sherri Shepherd recounted, she flew home to Los Angeles with son Jeffrey, 3 1/2, on the same plane as a mercury-poisoned Jeremy Piven. Shepherd first recognized Piven when she boarded as the "a guy with the fedora, a little short guy."

She then imitated her son's vocal excitement at being on a plane.

"I don't know if that irritated look that he had was the mercury running through his veins or my son... He was just on the show, normally I would go 'hey, I'm Sherri Shepherd from The View!' But had this look on his face!"

"We just avoided each other."

She then apologized if her son had bothered the actor.

Sherri just likes to talk about her experiences. All that flying she does between both coasts is insane. However, she has said her son has temper tantrums and she doesn't know what to do. A parenting class would do her some good.

How nauseating. Yes, by all means apologize NOW that you realize you offended an "important person!" A VIP as opposed to a regular nobody who can't dish you on national TV. I mean God forbid you offend an important person!

I've nothing against Jeremy. He seems like a decent guy. But I am just so sick of this butt-kissing crap between "celebrities" (and I use the word celebrity loosely here).

Dang! I mean, I have a strong dislike for children. I don't like them at all, and I admit that I cannot stand it when some baby cries on my flight. It's an annoyance. But seriously, I don't call them a brat. They only know what they are taught... and plus, I know a lot of grown @ss women who would point and yell if they saw Jeremy Piven.

You don't like her parenting, fine. But stop being so catty towards an innocent child.

Some of the posters are making the craziest comments. Sherri wasn't trying to embarass Jeremy she was just apologiing "if" her child bothered him. My family is in the military and my kids have flown a great deal in the last 4 years. They are well behaved, however I remember the first time they flew and they were very excited. Excitement doesn't equate to bad behavior; I don't see how some of the posters came to that conclusion. Yes they are some hyper kids out there. But in my many years of flying I have rarely experienced outright bad kids; and for the most part parents make the neccessary corrections when needed. A three year old child being excited about a plane ride is normal; I didn't get anything more from the statement.

And for those of you ask why she brought it up; she is a co-host of a "talk show", all the hosts bring up thier experiences.

Sherry's thoughts: I'm a celebrity and deserved to be treated as one. My son is adorable and everyone on the Plane in First Class should enjoy him as much as I do. Jeremy will regret being rude to me because I will out him on my show as a real jerk who hates kids.
Jeremy's thoughts: What the hell is wrong with people who can't control their kids on a 5 hour flight. I'm tired, over worked, sick and now I have to put up with a brat kid and his do nothing about it mother, just great.
