Obama adds 'Neighborhood Ball' to festivities

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama is adding a "Neighborhood Ball" to the list of inaugural parties planned just over two weeks from now.

In announcing the plan Monday morning, Obama said in a statement that he doesn't want citizens of the District of Columbia or elsewhere to feel left out of the celebration surrounding his elevation to the presidency on Jan. 20.

Obama said he wanted to make sure that "we had an event that would be open to our new neighborhood here in Washington, D.C., and also neighborhoods across the country." The "Neighborhood Ball" will be held at the Washington Convention Center.

Officials said tickets for the event will be made available free or at an "affordable price" and that a portion of the tickets will be set aside for District of Columbia residents.

As a one of many Canadians who rooted for President-Elect Obama. I just hope we Canadians get to see the Inagural in full...not just blurbs from Media TV people.

As a Canadian supporter of Obama, I could not donate money to his Campaign..it is not allowed and it was clearly Posted on his Blog. However, I constantly researched and sent all articles about Obama to my many born USA relatives and friends. I urged them to Vote Early and Vote for this great man. I'm afraid some of my Republician relatives are still upset by my personal views.

Living in a Northern Border City I had hope to see Obama in person. However, sadly he never got close enough to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for me to have that golden opportunity.

My greatest hope is that the Citizens of USA will give him a chance to get things in order...change cannot come if we don't all have the patience and give him the necessary time needed to straighten out the many messes that 8 years of Bush & friends created. He is aware of the economy and will work hard on Americas great needs...and for ALL its people.

I'm betting that CSPAN will carry most of the inaugural ceremonies and cover the official balls as well. They are usually very good about doing that. Hopefully, you receive CSPAN where you live in Canada.

The "people's ball"! What a great idea. Obama is already under tremendous pressure and criticism
( even from Democrats). This nation is MESSED up and Obama needs our prayers. He is NOT a prophet or messiah....he is simply a compassionate, yet highly intelligent man who will make mistakes, but I think he has our best interests at heart. Please pray for him....there are many within this country who would harm him ( remember, he's a black man and that's reason enough for the nuts out there who listen to Limbaugh/H­annity,etc­.)).
