TheWB.com: WB Sees New Life As Web Contender

With more than 186 million Web sites on the Internet today, according to the research firm Netcraft, it's no easy task to start a new one that users are going to find and keep coming back to.

But when the Warner Brothers Television Group opened TheWB.com on Aug. 27, executives for the company knew they had something most start-up sites do not have -- a loyal audience base from the WB television network, which operated from 1995 until it closed in the fall of 2006.

The WB, in its heyday, was known to advertisers for drawing sizable audiences of hard-to-reach 18-to-24-year-olds with shows like "Dawson's Creek," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Felicity" and "Gilmore Girls."
