I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Stop speculating: Chris Matthews isn't running for U.S. Senate. At least that's what his brother told PolitickerPA.com.

Jim Matthews was left with that strong impression after speaking with the MSNBC host when he returned from a two-week vacation in Jamaica.

It's too bad he's not running. Some straight talk would've been refreshing.

Well, that will be Pennsylvania's loss, but a good thing for MSNBC viewers.

Chris Matthews did a very smart thing.

He let the "running for Senate" rumor run out there for a while and made no substantive comment on the idea, just to get a feel of what the reaction of Pennslyvanians and the rest of the country was.

If there is a loud outcry for him NOT to run for the Senate, he quietly stays on at Hardball and keeps his "face" intact .........................

If there is a groundswell of support, he can then make a public comment one way or the other as to the bid for the Senate seat.

CM would fit right in in the Senate. He asks his guests a question, and in the middle of their answer he suddenly thinks of another or expands the latter. The consequence is the question rarely get answered by his guest. The result is nothing gets done or settled. Doesn't that sound like Congress?

now the senate won't have to hire a full time janitor to mop up all of Mathews dribble.

Do you really think that Chris Matthews would pass a vetting process before considering a run for Senate? Because I can bet there are way too many skeletons in that closet to fix and sweep away for any potential run.

You do know that Sonny Bono was a rep...right?

It would have been difficult to win against Spector, popular among the Democrats also.

Chris should be anchoring Meet the Press.

Chris should be an anchor on the front lawn of his house.

Good move Chris, since you would have lost and might have had trouble getting back on the air.

Dear Abby ...

I have this friend who owns a blog. Occasionally when I go over to visit(read post) her little dog gets loose and starts trying to hump my leg. Sometimes it lurks around for a couple of post. Sometimes in passing I see it humping other posters.

I would hate to go off my meds one day and end up with a pair of mittens ... please advise.

Two week vacation in Jamaica????

My man Matthews was probably so stoned from hanging with the Rastas and suckin' down gigantic spliffs of the sacred ganja he doesn't remember what the U.S. Senate is, let alone if he's running ornot.

Give him some time to let the THC metabolize and then we'll see...................................

Mathew, Limbaugh< Coulter, Oreiily< Dobbs they all should be banned from tv unless they speak the truth. They have all been lying fro years and have made too much money by doing so.It is a privilege that we the citizens give to stations to ow the airways and they should have a responsibilty to have people on air that speak the truth or their licences should be withdrawn

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:34 PM on 01/06/2009

Come on, I don't know of anyone on tv who speaks the whole truth. Just make them do it every once in a while.

Maybe you should step back, take a deep breath and think about what you just said. I mean you really don't believe that do you? Why would you wan't censorship of anything, I know I don't. If the Gov. censors free speech on radio and tv. what's next, the Internet? The news papers? Magazines? Phone calls? No, that's very, very dangerous to give Government that kind of power.

Hold people accountable on the internet it does not matter so much because anybody can be there. On the airwaves there has to be some some accountabilty for the news-because the news right now is similar to the news thay got in the USSR. When the news is so slanted and bush is treated like Stalin was in the ussr media then that network should lose its licenec because it is not being fair and balanced period. The same for MSNBC. Sure allow for some slip ups but when the talking heads that are on TV are all hired hacks from some right wing think tank and they are all saying the same arguments that have just benn emailed to them from the think tank then the general public has to start demandfing higher standards. When Dobbs says he is not a Reublican and the station knows he is the station should let the viewer know that DOBBS has lied. The same for all the rest. To try to get the truth in the media now a days is worse than it ever was.

Oh rat spit! Now we'll never get rid of him and I was so looking forward to Newt getting that time slot and watch the right wing wackos implode.

GOOD! Chris Matthews is a member of the " I Love To Be Me" crowd. He could care less about the everyday people of PA. I have no idea if he is smart or not. I don't like him & living in PA would NEVER vote for him. He has ZERO tolerance for anyone who doesn't have a degree in higher education & who makes less than he does. That's alot of us here in PA. I don't know if he grew up privaliged or not, but if he didn't , he sure forgot about it. He could NEVER represent a state like PA.

Exactly. His holier than thou attitude on everything, not to mention his flip flopping, is ridiculous.
One day he is in love with GW, the next he blames him for everything, one day he is kissing Obama's butt, the next night he is digging up as much dirt on him as he can.

The only people he consistently despises and trashes is the Clintons.

Good! Mathews doesn't have the temperament or intellect to do the job.

I think Chris would make an excellent senator; but since I don't live in PA I'm glad he'll still be hosting Hardball. Contrary to some opinions expressed here, I think he is highly informed and extremely passionate about politics. There should be more like him.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:30 PM on 01/06/2009

If you think he is well informed than you must not be Cause for those of us who are political junkies he is poorly informed and frequently comes out with right ideology the reinvent history-in other words his so called facts are fiction.

its sad though, i had so looked forward to beating his ass in a primary!

It seems that he really wants to become a Senator from PA, but still likes the paycheck from MSNBC. He's worked for Pres. Carter and House Speaker Tip O'Neill and he knows everyone and I think he should not be so quick to abandon his dreams . He IS passionate about politics and seems to be a decent, smart guy--sure is never going to get caught with his photo in the Enquirer, coming out of some brothel! He has a great family and is a good author. He needs to do this or he'll always wish he had.

well I don't know about his picture in the enquirer, but he DID make the last edition with the article about him demeaning a christmas tree worker- at a church no less. Decent? I don't think so.

He is the only historian I know that claims Nixon and Kennedy were friends. No there should not be more like him -there should be more people that speak the truth which he is incapable of doiing.
