I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Anderson Cooper is the latest CNN personality to take part in a "Daily Show" joke — this time, hosting a mock "Puppendential Debate" to help Barack Obama choose the dog he is bringing to the White House for daughters Sasha and Malia.

In November, Cooper's CNN colleague John King starred in a "Magic Wall" conspiracy thriller with "The Daily Show's" John Oliver. Cooper also made a cameo in that video.

Watch the hilarious video below, perhaps most noteworthy for what a good sport Cooper is:

Note: An earlier version of this story inaccurately stated that Stewart was mocking CNN for the debate. It has been edited to make clear that Cooper participated in the joke with Stewart and "The Daily Show."

The editorial policy of the Huffington Post on management of posts by readers is very much like China.

.

I, uh......I watched it as it aired.....and I loves me some Jon Stewart...but uh......wow. I looked at my wife about 2/3rds of the way through the bit and we both just shook our heads. I mean, ...the production that went into that....the time...crew, ...salary....etc,....wow.
...and brother, did it go on for FAR too long!?...And I'm convinced there is probably another solid 30 minute B-Reel of this sitting in a digital file somewhere....
C'mon Jon....AC (awkwardly closeted)....you can do better....

Hahaha......I actually thought this was real when I first saw it on Comedy Central. I thought it was so cute I even looked for it on Youtube. No wonder I wasen't able to find it. They really fooled me there.

Me too, I wanted to see the whole thing on CNN. It was adorable; too bad there wasn't more. Cooper really seems to love dogs, he was a good choice for the moderator.

Dear Huffington Post,
This was a bit produced by the Daily Show. CNN did no such "debate." Although it is funny that you assumed that CNN would be that dumb i highly doubt that my man Anderson would actually participate in something like that unless he knew it was a hilarious joke which it was and is.
Next time you should watch the clip before you post about it.

You've gotta be kidding. Suppository, anyone?

Suppository? My doctor gave me some of those things. They didn't work worth a damn. For all the good they did I might as well shoved them up my butt.

Does anyone still watch CNN? I quit watching over a year ago. Better news coverage on the internet.

"Mocking?" I think Huffington should correct the headline. This segment appears to have been produced by the Daily Show, not CNN. Stewart says, "We got Anderson Cooper to do that" and "we stole that idea from Tom Brokaw." Just to double check, I Googled this and there's no mention of an actual show being broadcast by CNN.

Was that "puppy debate" actually aired by CNN?? When I saw it on the Daily Show, I assumed it was a bit put on by the Daily Show, and I was impressed that they got Anderson Cooper to do it.

Didn't seem like mocking to me. That segment was funny.

Forget this nonsense, why don't you point out the examples of Stewart saying things about Gaza and Israel few on tv have the guts to say?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:30 AM on 01/07/2009

I second that opinion.

Stewart said things, that as he showed, no US politician is going to say about Israel and Palestinians.

That was real news. Or rather, commentary.

good for you Jon Stewart. And good for your team of writers.

The only people in the "news media" with a conscience.

You'll also note the audience's reaction to what he said. Very loud applause. It did need saying. The Daily Show is now shown overseas; wonder what they thought of it all?

Greatest moment in television Gaza coverage since the invasion began.

Pathetic that it had to come from the jester.

I agree! I'd like to see some of Stewart''s rants on Gaza again too! Considering Jon is Jewish, he has been incredibly fair on the Israeli-Hamas issue and should be applauded for it. Frankly, it's the only show on television that I watch to see what's in the news. I dropped CNN, NBC and the rest of them long ago, though I do enjoy Rachel Maddow.

og Mocking - that's fine.

But on Tuesday night Jon cited Minnesota as "one of the smart states" and Maryland as "one of the states that need to wear a helmet".

Dear Jon, Maryland Kicks the "Eh" state in test scores and, despite our size, is home to many more excellent Universities than Minnesota.

Apologize now Jon - or no crabcakes for you!

You know he didn't really wanna name an actual state that is challenged. Hard to say the home of Johns Hopkins is dumb. This could be the start of a bit like Colbert did over all the states with cities/towns named Canton.

I'm from MD and at first I was like, "hey, wait a minute!" But then I laughed at the Old LIne State needing a helmet (trust me--there are Marylanders who need helmets--maybe the ones who chose jousting as the state sport!).

I'm pretty sure jon Stewart was appreciating the humor in Cooper's segment. It was hilarious.

"...mocked CNN, and in particular host Anderson Cooper, for airing a 'debate' about the Obamas' first dog"
