Josh Brolin: Russell Crowe "An A-hole"

Josh Brolin is one of my favorite actors because he speaks his mind. Last night at the New York Film Critics Awards dinner, at which Brolin won Best Supporting Actor for his work in the drama, "Milk," Brolin stole the show with his candor.

For one thing, he called Russell Crowe, his co-star in last year's "American Gangster," an "a-hole." Oh yes, he did. He said, after Sean Penn introduced him, "Quite an actor, Sean Penn. And not an a-hole like Russell Crowe." He then repeated: "Like Russell Crowe."

He didn't have any nice words for New York Times theater critic Ben Brantley who reviewed him in a performance of Sam Shepard's "True West."

"I hate that motherf-----," Brolin says, "And I don't think he's a good writer."

While it is not the most charming thing to call your peers a-holes, truth is the ultimate defense to slander.

Keep in mind, Russel Crowe is a guy that threw a telephone at a hotel lobby worker because he was having trouble completing a call. I don't care what the guy did to make Crowe angry, but throwing a phone at him is unacceptable behavior. Wanting to throw the phone may have been a normal reaction to the situation, but acting on that impulse is simply unacceptable.

So, Russell Crowe, if the shoe fits.......

It's almost redundant at this point. Because that's what nearly everybody in the business says about Russell Crowe.

Just imagine the roles that Russel Crowe got that Josh Brolin wanted!?! It must sting like a b*tch. I personally don't care what an actor is like in real life. I just want to be entertained with great acting!!

I love both Russell and Josh. They both deliver.

Crowe didn't just "throw a phone" when he got angry. He threw the phone into the face of a totally innocent person who had nothing to do with the problem.

Actor Josh Brolin was arrested Sunday in the West Los Angeles home he shares with his wife of four months, Diane Lane, who phoned police claiming that he had hit her, L.A. police officer Grace Brady tells New York's Daily News.

Brolin, 36, was charged with spousal battery. He was released after posting $20,000 bail, said Kelly Bush, a spokeswoman for the couple.

You know that isn't a recent story, don't you? They've been married since August of 2004. This is not an excuse; however, they must have worked their problems out since they're still together. Not looking for a fight. Just stating they've been together for over 4 years.

So what is your statue of limitations for these kind of actions?

There are some things you can say in private conversation or even to a bunch of colleagues and it could be perceived as comic frankness, but this just seems like stupid-jerk-ness. I suppose that he is getting lots of work now and feel invincible. The people who say nothing are the ones who will want to take him out in the future. In truth that is a lousy business, with a bunch of talented but often lousy people inhabiting it.
