I Like ItI Don’t Like It

To find out, Johan Lundstrom and Marilyn Jones-Gotman of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, asked a group of 20 young women with boyfriends to fill in a Passionate Love Scale questionnaire (pdf format) to determine just how much in love they were. Meanwhile, the women's partners and male and female friends slept for a seven nights in a cotton T-shirt with pads sewn into the underarms to soak up their sweat.

This is a weird picture...I would laugh if it was a man instead of a woman!

Really it's all a package deal isn't it? Too much hair is not a turnoff; there are worst things like no hair ...as in bald.

I like the way hairy men look (and love the way they feel) probably as a result of early sexual imprinting. All the shirtless men I saw as a little girl (Daddies at the pool...mowing their lawns...) were hairy. Hair was "normal", it was the way grown men were supposed to look. I still remember being surprised (and dismayed) to learn that most men weren't naturally furry.

So all you hair haters...please give the hairy guys a break. We all like what we like.

I like natural women, women with hair--you know where. Where have they gone?

They discovered that less or no hair is more enjoyable for their lovers. Bush lovers are a dying breed.

Such hypocricy...
Men are criticized daily for their shallow, derisive, and immature attitudes towards the "normal, feminine body". I'm sure if the roles were reversed in the picture, and the female model was overweight and flat-chested with blotchy skin.. ANY criticism leveled at her appearance would surely suffer a firestorm of righteous indignation (from the women AND men on this board)!
Healthy, mature men with normal levels of testosterone can and do have lots of body hair. A hirsute, male body is not an indication of poor hygiene, low IQ, or lack of sophistication. Referring to the male-model in the picture as a "Yak", "Gorilla" and "Yeti" is just plain childish and quite sad in this day and age. Or perhaps, I'm assuming too about from the respondents here at huffpo...

Progressive and enlightened, indeed.

Actually, abnormally low testosterone can contribute to some cognitive developmental issues; so you could make an argument that low testosterone makes men -- stupid.

Still, you've hit on a valid point: men, testosterone, and manliness -- despite living in a so-called patriarchal society -- is pretty much at its nadir. Note the description in the (otherwise good) praise of Panetta saying that the atmosphere is "testosterone poisoned." Imagine the firestorm (to use your word), if some mostly-female institution were to be called "estrogen poisoned."

Ah well, I should leave off of this pet peeve of mine before I get a really good rant going...

LOL

This is the funniest post EVER..."not an indication of poor hygiene"?

One ex-bf was hairy and I didn't really grasp the degree of hairiness early on because he would get it WAXED. He was was way more vain than I could ever be....and I'd have to say the low IQ and lack of sophistication did fit.

i find guys with hairy chests really sexy ... as do all my girl-freinds..
i am ok with a range of body types (except obese) and heights but hairless chests are a turn-off for me...
hairless boys is a gay thing....

Why all the "yuck" comments? There are plenty of men who look like that out there
TV, magazines and ads sell us dreams. I've met men that hairy, and they were good, sexy and confident men!

I usually like hairy men, but even this guy is just a little too much for me. He must be Italian.

Apparently there are real "hair haters," because my original comment did not go through. :)

The only reason this photo is so "icky" and "disgusting" is because the media has pushed the artificially waxed and sleek image of male bodies onto us for so long. For the vast majority of ethnic types to achieve this look, constant waxing or permanent hair removal is required.

Why are we now accepting that it's right and proper to deconstruct most media presentations of the female body, but we balk when it comes to those of men? This is a lot closer to what a natural male body looks like, so deal with it. We're mammals, and along with that comes hair!

Ridiculous comments. The picture is only "wrong" and "disgusting" and "yucky" because we have been conditioned for so long by the media to believe only a waxed, shiny male body holds aesthetic value.

Why is it so common to denaturalize the media's perspective on feminine beauty, when we are not willing to do it for male "beauty?"

Mammals have hair. Deal with it. I would hope there are many who consider the waxed look unnatural and unappealing.
