"Major Hit" To Kennedy's Popularity

Caroline Kennedy's popularity has suffered a "clear hit" as a result of her public campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate seat, while Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's positive ratings have shot up, according to a new poll.

According to Public Policy Polling, of Raleigh, N.C., 44 percent of New York State voters now say they have a less favorable opinion of Kennedy than they did before she started vying for the position. Thirty-three percent say it's made no difference, and 23 percent report now having a more favorable opinion of her.

Do not underestimate any family that is able to war profiteer by doing business with Hitler and get away with it. The House of Bush is hoping that the Earl of Jeb will be able to keep the familie's grip on power with a Senate or Presidential run. It's goingto take every Skull and bones member doing their part for the house of Bush to suceed.

I believe at some point in the past, CKS should have asked the Maid to pack several suitcases, and request the limousine driver to plan a trip around New York State. As it stands now, it appears that she knows very little about her home State, and has seen even less. New York City is a wonder place, but upstate/western NY has a lot to see.

Kennedy idolators are broadly dispersed, even at this site. Some editors are likely stunned that Camelot fantasies aren't universal and that many, many Dems are grounded enough to resist that myth.

Not saying that Public Policy was biased, but I do think that in the spirit of fairness, whenever the results of a poll are reported, that report should include the name of the person or organization that paid for or sponsored that poll.

Poll results, as has been discussed in many sources, are very susceptible to how questions are worded or phrased. This sounds like a lot of spin to me, from people with an anti-Kennedy agenda.

Now we all know that many of the "elite" consider the Senate our version of the House of Lords. Ms Kennedy is now to be the representative of the Kennedy castle. There are others like her in the Senate, so why not ?

As soon as she said she wouldn't divulge her financial records, I was done. This is ridiculous - I don't care what the last name is, I want someone who is looking out for New Yorkers. I think Caroline has always behaved in a classy intelligent way. Her real life experiences would be a great asset to someone in government. She's wealthy and can't be bought. She's a mother, well educated and connected. This scares the hell out of those in the Congress who have been selling us out for thirty years. Frankly, after hearing her speak and how glaringly inarticulate and NON-impassioned she appears, I'm not surprised that her popularity is sinking.

As a former NYS resident (but not since 1986), I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were still living there... god knows I thought Hillary was nothing more than a carpet-bagger of the first order when she declared for that seat, and she did well, BUT, she did have much more direct involvement with governing than Caroline has had.

It's a tough one, since Andrew Cuomo is probably more qualified and more charismatic (I assume).
I certainly don't presume to know anything about any of the other potential desirees, so I won't comment on them one way or the other.

But in general, the "dynasty" thing should be a non-issue, since growing up in a political/public service family logically can either pre-dispose off-spring to follow the road into a life of public service (essentially the family business) or to shun it and the intrusiveness of it altogether.

Franken's years of political activity in the public arena, especially his impassioned and articulate radio voice through some of the bleakest Bush days, plus his hard-fought campaign for his Senate seat are on one side. Her inherited wealth and apparent sense of entitlement to a serene and insulated privacy are on the other.

Caroline needs to do what Hillary did for 2 yrs before running for office. She needs to prove herself. All I've ever read about her is that she raised millions for NY schools, wrote some books but primarily lived a private life.
