Norm Coleman Website Is Shut Down

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Reflecting his no-longer-officially-Senator status, Minnesota Republican Norm Coleman's website has seemingly been shut down.

A click on www.coleman.senate.gov now leads viewers to the Senate's own website. The dismantling of Coleman's official web presence comes one day after the Senate Rules and Administration Committee closed down and locked the his offices -- barring staff who had showed up to work from entering the premises.

As Howard Gantman, staff director for the SRAC, explained to the Huffington Post, "the Senator's term expires on January 3," and there was notification made to Coleman that his official capacities for serving in office would no longer be available after then.

Coleman, at this juncture, stands to lose his reelection campaign to Al Franken by 225 votes. The Republican has pledged to appeal the results to state and possibly federal court -- arguing that some voters were disenfranchised by through the state's recount process.

Al Franken has declared victory in the interim, but he lacks a certification signed by Minnesota's governor Tim Pawlenty. Until then, Senate Democrats have declined to attempt to seat the current victor.

UPDATE: The Coleman website is now back up, an hour or so after this report. I contacted Gantman to figure out the rules governing whether Coleman can have a Senate site and he replied:

"The office was asked to provide the same message on both their voice mail system and their website that the office of Norm Coleman is closed."

This story made me smile.

Hopefully the courts will just down the lawsuit as fast as the senate shut down his website.

hideous thought: imagine if norm coleman and ann coulter mated...

It would destroy us all with its hideously enlarged teeth.

Though on the bright side, it would rid the world of Norm Coleman. Much like the venomous spiders she resembles, Ann Coulter eats her mate when the unholy deed is done.

Why did 25 counties have more recorded votes than eligible voters in those counties? This doesn't pass the smell test. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/06/norm-coleman-website-is-s_n_155653.html#

Because that's not true, it has been debunked.

If there is a source giving the data showing the two numbers for each of those 25 alleged counties, I'd love to see it. But I suspect it doesn't exist, it's just more hot air from the sore losers.

Now that's a methane tax I wouldn't object to. Tax that hot ,noxious air from flatulent GOP members who are having difficulty with digesting their losses.

That isn't true.

The recount includes absentee ballots that were wrongly excluded.
There is nothing fishy about it.
All the votes were posted online.

Your guy lost.
Get used to it.

Here's an example that might help you with your olfactory glands. Supposing a little old lady takes a ballot and mistakenly marks the wrong candidates and realizes when she is in the booth. She then tells the judges there that she made a mistake. So they give her another ballot and toss the other ballot away in a rejected pile. So, a Repug lackey like yourself, jumps up and down and says how come there are more recorded votes than eligible voters. See, the woman, mistakenly was counted twice but in reality she was recorded only once. Happens all the time. The problem is Repubs rig so many elections that they can't believe mistakes can happen. And that mistakes can be honestly corrected. Deal with it. It's call democracy.

talk about a sore loser. if the situation was reversed, and Coleman was ahead but 200 votes, I guarantee he would be a sore winner too.

I picture Coleman doing something really wacky, like chaining himself to his Senate office in protest.

He couldn't afford to pay the bills to keep it up now that he's getting zero reimbursement from the Federal Government.

If Coleman contests the election, it will only be for a quid pro quo from the RNC. I'm thinking they will agree to pay his lawyers for his upcoming corruption trial.

Let's see, his office has been closed and locked and now his Senate website is shut down. Seems Mr. Coleman is the only one who doesn't know that "...it's time to turn off the lights and start the music, the party's over."
