I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Sasha and Malia Obama have made the peace symbol popular again. The trend began when Sasha stepped off the plane in Hawaii, continued with Malia's peace and love tee on a zoo outing, and, most recently, was worked into Sasha's all-important first day of school outfit.

See more Obama slideshows.

Been shopping this year? It's the biggest fashion thing for girls, so the Obama girls didn't start the fashion. But it's still cool after all these years, and these girls know cool.

I went thru a "peace sign phase" - you know when it began, and I am still going thru a peace sign phase today. I love it that new generations continue to employ symbols made famous by the failure that was Vietnam - especially since the current war is also doomed to fail. The Obama girls are merely echoing what they are taught at home - and they will be leaders at Sidwell- the other kids will follow their lead. Wearing peace signs isn't such a bad example for others.

Never downplay the voices of the children, they are the hope of a peaceful world that values all life.

It's a non-aggressive way to promote the Obama presidency's peace message. Brilliant work, Gibbs & Co.

Yep, yep, yep. The press secretary and his staff are picking the kids' wardrobes. You betcha.

Apparently you aren't aware of trends in kids' fashion -- peace signs are everywhere. Oops! There goes your theory!

People, when I attended a Friend's school, that's what we wore as a bohemian prep school uniform. Just ask the teachers.

Peace baby

What should they have on, images of rockets and bombs? It's likely also clothing made with free / fair trade....problem with that too????

I agree with "Morning" Joe Scarborough that it SCARY and WRONG to photograph and zoom in on these girls, the daughters of our President Elect. We can love them best by not making them covergirls and not trying to draw so much attention to them, which could risk their safety, not to mention their dignity. Makes me admire Caroline Kennedy and her mother Jaquelin even more for meticulously keeping themselves and their children out of the limelight... it's not to be elitist and snobby, it's to maintain privacy and safety! We should all go watch American Idol, instead of prying and staring and being generally geeko American celebrity addicts by putting these kids under the microscope!

java joe is "stunningly superficial" with his so-called concern for the O girls. He is a self absorbed, arrogant o'reilly double. He should be on faux "news."
