I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In an interview with the LA Times, President Bush's brother Jeb explained why he isn't running for Senate and asked Republicans to go easy on the new president:

Still, the former governor said he would continue to advocate for conservative ideas, and he offered a bit of advice to fellow Republicans: Don't target the new president with the same kind of partisan attacks that he said Democrats had hurled unfairly at his brother -- attacks that he summed up as "Bush-hating."

"The opposition should be about ideas, and not what my brother suffered through in the last eight years," he said. "I don't wish that on President Obama."

Bush said he had been impressed so far with Obama's appointments and called the president-elect someone who is "smart, disciplined, not rash."

On Sunday, former President H. W. Bush said that he hoped Jeb would run for Senate in Florida and one day, for president. The younger Bush son announced on Tuesday that he would not run. He said his decision wasn't based on politics, but on his "personal journey."

The word "conservative" means they should be opposed to major changes, generally. A pragmatic conservative would accept the necessity of some changes but still tend to be skeptical that very much needs to be changed. A true conservative prefers to uphold the centuries-old custom that sovereign nations are not to be invaded, and has an extremely high standard of proof before supporting any change to that custom. An honest conservative opposes changing to lower standards for warrantless wiretapping, torture, rendition, made-up categorization of soldiers as "enemy combatants" based on the fatuous reasoning that they lack uniforms, and privatization of New Orleans public schools under the radar after Katrina, and outsourcing military work to Blackwater mercenaries.

Ron Paul opposes all those changes Bush made. The rest of the GOP is ruled by cowardice and corruption. The Bush family has nothing to offer America.

Jeb Bush was a very good Governor. He shouldn't be attacked because of who is brother is. Some of you are like little children with your comments.

In what way was he a good Governor?

He's not being *attacked* at all. Iraq was attacked. Jeb is being fairly criticized here, for supporting his lying, criminal brother, not for being his brother.

"The opposition should be about ideas, and not what my brother suffered through in the last eight years," he said. "I don't wish that on President Obama."

Here's some "ideas" to oppose:

War, torture, spying on American citizens, this list goes on and on.

Sorry that Jeb Bush can't recognize the difference in Scrub and Obama. Attacks on Bush were not based on partisan politics, but on his lack of integrity, honesty, feeling that if the president does it it must be right and for his shredding of the constitution. Only a cat could have shredded better. Let's not compare Bush and Obama.

Duh..Obama and Bush are on same team...two different sides of the same evil coin. Obama even admitted he is a distant cousin of Cheney. Well, what do you think that means.

Were Obama to be the evil twin of Jeb's brother George, GOP would be the least of his worrries!

When a Bush starts showing concern and being nice, quadruple the guards!

And what a "bazoom" it is! "Bazoom blanking" is an old Bush family tradition. 'Splains a few things, doesn't it?

Is that like a "wazoo"? Jebby the Tub was his brother's enabler and cheerleader and no amount of his feigned civility will erase that. He'll pack on the pounds and be forgotten in two years.

When the GOP comes out with the all new and improved Bush III with his Reagan-like rhetoric and promises to the rich of tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts, 2/3rds of the country will swoon in idiot delight and we'll be right back where we were in 2003. With a new attack on America Jeb will make 1600 his permanent address. Americans are idiots to have ever bought the George Bush lie, and are simply awaiting the next boatload of dreams the GOP floats by them. At least the Germans learned from their mistakes.

The only thing Republicans can do at this point is keep losing... That is what is going to happen no matter what they do... Because at this point the entire GOP is a stacked deck of lo.sers.

May very well be a preview of the GOP strategy.
If they (the rank and file) act racist and divisive, the people they want in power only have to act reasonable in order to be seen as hopeful. It is sick and twisted but will probably work.

He's just trying to look like a statesman so that he can justify his run in 2012. Of course, with a name like bush it's hard to EVER be elected President after THIS one!!

Please don't forget that Jeb was Governor of FLorida during the 2000 election that got handed to W.
Also don't forget Jeb signed the infamous PNAC letter to Clinton. And finally, regarding that 'Don't target the new president with the same kind of partisan attacks that he said Democrats had hurled unfairly at his brother."...Excuse me! Am I the only one that remembers the 'partisan attacks' during the Clinton years? WhiteWater anyone? Vince Foster, Monica, etc etc etc....like the only partisan attacks came from Dems towards W! Geez. I'm glad he won't be running for the Fl Senate, but that doesn't mean he won't be running for President in 2012/2016.

Teritt,

um Whitewater was a legitimate scandal, so was lying to a Grand Jury.

But go ahead and keep up the witch hunts if it makes you feel better, obviously your party being in power isn't enough, so go on with the love to hate...

You're right, electing a Democratic President isn't enough.

Bush and Cheney must be held accountable for their crimes.

"um Whitewater was a legitimate scandal, so was lying to a Grand Jury."

Um, $67,000,000.00 says they weren't. Witch hunts? We'll show you some investigations come the next administration that will make the Clinton scandal hunts seem trivial even to you. I guess Bush would have to t o r t u r e you personally to get through.

Partinship is our problem. We excuse any kind of behavior if it our guys, and condemn it when it's the other party. It's so easy that way- we don't have to think as much. Can you imagine if you owned a large corporation wiich was responsible for your financial future- would you allow this kind of conflict to go on among the top executives? Not likely.

Hear hear! And, any criticism of his "poor beat down" (persecution complex anyone?) brother, 'W', was the result of his own actions/in actions. Despite how hard they try to spin the books on our worst President in history we know the truth. We are living it right now!
