Joe The Plumber To Become War Correspondent

TOLEDO, Ohio — Joe The Plumber is putting down his wrenches and picking up a reporter's notebook.

The Ohio man who became a household name during the presidential campaign says he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com.

Samuel J. Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bah-kur) says he'll spend 10 days covering the fighting.

He tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants to let Israel's "'Average Joes' share their story."

Wurzelbacher gained attention during the final weeks of the campaign when he asked Barack Obama about his tax plan.

He later joined Republican John McCain on the campaign trail. At one stop, he agreed with a McCain supporter who asked if he believed a vote for Obama was a vote for the death of Israel.

Caroline Kennedy finished in the top 5% at Columbia Law, passed the Bar on her first go around (nearly no one who takes it ever does) and has authored or co-authored more than 15 books, including scholarly works dealing with constitutional law, the Bill of Rights and rights to privacy.

Joe the Plumber, meanwhile, has strung together a series of laughably simplistic concepts and near-inarticulate sentences for an online media group with the word "pajamas" in its name.

You sure you want to compare them on their qualifications?

Where were all of the critics when the rockets were lobbed into the Israeli civilian population? Not a word from any of them. But when the IAF goes after Hamas Military targets, the World cries out to stop the violence. The hypocrisy makes me sick. Maybe Joe can get past the spin and report the way things really are!

I want to see peace and if the world leaves it up to the Israeli and the Palestinian people to work it out together, maybe they can achieve real peace and prosperity for both peoples

No, I don't need to hear from any more "Average Joes" telling me about the way things are. I want to hear from reasonably intelligent people, able to form cogent thoughts and communicate them clearly and concisely. I see enough slobs on reality TV to hear from yet one more.

But then again, I required greater qualifications from my presidential choice than "I'd be comfortable having a beer with him/her," so maybe I'm in the minority.

What "pro-Palestine spin" are you talking about exactly... the fact that over 50% of the dead are women and children? The fact that almost 1000 civilians have died vs. 10 Israelis? The fact that the 'rockets' are being fired into their own land that was captured by Israel and taken away?
OR the fact that the USA doesn't run news about the United Nations condemnation of Israel for this invasion?

I wouldn't have a problem with the "average Joe" reporting the facts and nothing but the facts. But please don't try to pass off Joe the Clown as "average" anything. The man is unable to form coherent sentences, has no idea what the words he uses actually mean and can't even get licensed for his declared occupation. Earnest plea to HuffPost editors: Stop giving column space to stupidity! Joe the Plumber is irrelevant, and the more focus you give him, the longer it takes for him to slink off into obscurity, where he belongs. He represents nobody, he is uninformed and just plain stupid. Please stop writing about this guy. When asked about his fears of traveling into a war zone, he actually commented that he felt protected because as a Christian God is protecting him going into Israel. He uses the word 'pronunciate'. The issues surrounding Mr. Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher have little to do with his posing of any questions, disingenuous as they may have been, but in the underlying dishonesty of the sentiment with which they were posed, and the apparent fraud he seemed to be perpetuating.

If, for example, I ask pose as, oh, let's say plumber, though I have no plumbing license, and ask you how a policy, let's say a proposed tax policy, will effect my ability to buy a business for a value that somehow seems to fall just in the range of tax boundaries described in the proposed policy (whether or not I could actually own a plumbing business without being a licensed plumber), that might seem dishonest to some people. Given, all of the lies inherent in my question wouldn't surface very quickly unless, say, I had made those comments in the heat of the most heavily scrutinized Presidential elections in generations. It should be expected that some in the media would be more than a little curious as to what relevance may inhere in the questioner's circumstances. No one was attacking Mr. Wurzelbacher, they were merely exercising due diligence.

As for Carolo6095's comments on the motives of the press, I do share your frustration at times about what makes the news. Accordingly, I make sure to read something other than HuffPost for detailed analysis and factual records.
