With the Financial Markets in crisis the old established business control everything even the raw materails.

Without money to invest in new businesses to provide competition prices will not come down !!!!!

Only if we let the speculators jack up the price again. It dropped 100 dollars a barrel in a matter of weeks. That was because of a massive sell off in the futures market... which means that the prices completely artificial to begin with.

You'd be surprised how many here still don't want to face the fact that the run up was totally fabricated. Yes, we will run out one day, and yes we should have a moon landing level program of energy independence--right now.

But the fact is that Bush accomplished one of his most sought after goals this last year, at our expense.

Don't forget the ol' T Boone has a bunch of skin in this game; wind and natural gas will become his next cash cow.

And the prediction that oil will again go back up....uh, my 6 & 8 year-old kids know that...not exactly had to figure out.

Anyone remember when gas was $4.50 that every talking head, every newsbabe and newsdude told us like exasperated kindergarten teachers that prices were high because of China and India and they would never be low again and there's nothing anyone could ever do about it. No one disagreed. And remember that $600 "stimulus check" that stimulated nothing but the national debt? Where did it go but to Exxon. It was a government payout of billions to the oil companies, laundered through us. I hope all that is over.

Let's see, the election is over, the Saudis have waited a decent amount of time and oil prices are going up already, even in the face of economic collapse. Geez, no one but a genius like Pickens could have predicted oil prices would go up. Yawn.

You mean a limited resource, coming from an unstable region and controlled by greedy organizations hell bent on profit is going to rise? Surely you jest!

You can ridicule T. Boone Pickens, and attribute his motives to his ownership of wind turbines, or call him stupid, but there's no way to get around it...supply of oil is going down (or will soon, because we've probably hit peak oil production worldwide), and demand will probably go up (if we get out of this depression and resume our gas guzzling habits).

What, you think the oil companies won't do this again as soon as they can? Best take warning, all you who feel like buying new SUVs at good prices. In a couple of years, you'll be hurting again. Don't screw up the same way twice.

Whey screw up only twice if you can screw up all the time?

He might be right, but he's still a jerk for financing the swift boat ads about Kerry.

with oil cheap, it's taken 'the wind' out of his windmill farms. he's preaching fear right about now. i think if oil stays cheap and gas remains around $2.00 per gal. we'll never get off our addiction to foreign oil, and 'O's whole green jobs plan might be in trouble. gas should be around $250.00-3.00 per gal. where it's still somewhat affordable, but we're not being foolish and are conserving.

His commercials on TV are annoying as his Texan accent.
He speaks like he knows something the whole planet doesn't.

But what makes T. Boone Pickens different is that he has a workable plan. I hope Obama embraces it.

RIght on, to bad Obama won't.

So let him work it. Without my tax dollars!

Yes but a dollar given all that we are printing in the bailout and stimuli packages will be worth LT 50 cents compared to today. We have to start inflation and the debt will do that. Economies can survive inflation and fact require infaltion of 2-3 percent per year.... but not deflation.... and houses down in my area are down almost 60%... everyone has a reason to walk...
