"If you can schedule in time for the gym and happy hour drinks with friends, you can schedule in the extra time needed to walk or bike to work."

How ignorant is that? I'm way left of Chomsky and this stuff even turns my stomach. How long does it take to walk 20 miles? How long does it take to bike 30 or 40 in the snow in an area where there are no bike paths, like most of the freakin' country? Who is this stuff for and why is the person writing it still getting paid?

Our climate problem isn't going to be solved by individuals changing their light bulbs (already did it) or signing up for CSAs (don't need 10 pounds of cauliflower a week). It's gonna take massive government action that changes the way industry works. Talk about a gas tax, or making new SUVs and all Hummers illegal. Stop talking about nonsense like clean coal.

Anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves.

We can choose to make radical changes now, like living close to where you work and making sustainable choices, or we can be forced into much more difficult, awful choices in 20+ years.

Is there anyone else out there just a bit fed up with all of this "green" stuff? I use cloth bags, I refuse to buy water costing $20/gallon and use tap water instead, I recycle. I buy what I can afford and, if the apple comes from New Zealand and is the cheapest, it's in the cart! I live in an apartment and cannot garden and there is no urban garden in this town. We're in a horrible drought and I've done everything possible to help conserve water. Stop shoving this stuff down our throats. Even with my support of Obama, I was dismayed at his speech today when he used the "green" issue to assuage all the tree huggers. There are far too many more important issues just now than worrying over what fruit to buy! The economy is in collapse and people are just trying to afford ANY food at all!
