Lindsay Lohan: I Work As Hard As Scarlett Johansson

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Lindsay Lohan gave an interview to Lauren Hutton in the February issue of Interview, and bemoaned the state of her career and the poor film educations of youth today.

On not getting the same opportunities as other actresses: "But it's so impossible for me to actually [go someplace where no one knows me]. When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that. I mean, it is what it is. This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that's what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn't mean it's going to last forever.

On being in Hollywood to act, not to become a celebrity
: "I just feel as though it's become a situation where people have manifested this caricature of who I am, and they act as if there's no real person inside of it. I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this because I wanted to be a celebrity. But that was never my intention."

On the public misconception of her and the lack of knowledge about film
: "I wanted to be a movie star [growing up]. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don't think there are too many films coming out these days that we're going to look at in the future and say, 'This is one of the great ones.' Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I'm still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don't even know who those people are. I can't even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they'd be like, 'Okay, she's a freak. Something's wrong with her.'

*******

Speaking of Scarlett Johansson, it was reported last year that Lohan once scrawled "Scarlett is a cunt" on a bathroom wall.

Get a job, Lindsay! You're very talented, but no one will know that if you don't actually use your talents.

You might actually work as hard as her...when you work.

And I'll say you often show talent....when you work.

Problem being that you don't take anything seriously. You'd rather party all the time. If you don't take anything seriously how can anyone take you seriously.

This girl is so sad. She basically threw her career as a serious actress away wen she decided that hanging in the clubs, drinking and doping was her mission in life. Scarlett Johansson has surpassed her because she wasn't out drinking and catching DUIs.

Her career is in the toilet because of her actions. Stop blaming others. Change your management. Do a Broadway play. Do something instead of blogging on MySpace and complaining about how your career isn't going anywhere. Reinvent yourself and quit whining.

The studios don't want to work with her because they can't ensure her. Because she's unprofessional. She should be in jail on felony charges for that whole stupid incident where she jacked those dudes car and chased her old assistant. They even found coke on her but no one wanted to put a little girl in jail. That's why she's not working. She just needs to prove her value to them again. Find a breakthrough role in a small film and get noticed for her talents and not her fake lesbian relationship.

She's beyond full of it. Scarlett J isn't partying her gifts away, or jet setting from coast to coast to "hang." She's not late for gigs, and she's prepared when she shows up. LL is a tired has been at 20 something when she could have been an in demand 20 something on her way to a long career. She's a bore, a whiner, and just a waste of talent.

OMG is it just me or does she look like a concentration camp victim covered in designer clothes.?? I've liked some of Lohan's work, but if she gets a reputation as a difficult party girl even the most tolerant directors won't want to work with her, and makes it less likely investors will put their money in her project. FYI, today's throw a way films often become tomorrow classics. It's a wonderful life was widely panned and failed at the box office in it's day.

The part about old movies is something I definitely agree with. I pretty much only watch movies made before the 1970's and I'm under 35 years old. There are still good movies being made, it's just that people had a flair for movie making back in the day.

That's because back then the studios were run by filmmakers and not business school graduates who reflexively greenlight everything the Marketing Department says is popular.
