Lindsay Lohan: I Work As Hard As Scarlett Johansson

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Lindsay Lohan gave an interview to Lauren Hutton in the February issue of Interview, and bemoaned the state of her career and the poor film educations of youth today.

On not getting the same opportunities as other actresses: "But it's so impossible for me to actually [go someplace where no one knows me]. When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that. I mean, it is what it is. This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that's what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn't mean it's going to last forever.

On being in Hollywood to act, not to become a celebrity
: "I just feel as though it's become a situation where people have manifested this caricature of who I am, and they act as if there's no real person inside of it. I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this because I wanted to be a celebrity. But that was never my intention."

On the public misconception of her and the lack of knowledge about film
: "I wanted to be a movie star [growing up]. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don't think there are too many films coming out these days that we're going to look at in the future and say, 'This is one of the great ones.' Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I'm still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don't even know who those people are. I can't even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they'd be like, 'Okay, she's a freak. Something's wrong with her.'

*******

Speaking of Scarlett Johansson, it was reported last year that Lohan once scrawled "Scarlett is a cunt" on a bathroom wall.

Lindsay Lohan is apparently a Marxist. Working HARD is not the measure of value, but the quality and quantity of the product.

This is where Marxists go wrong, thinking that manual blue-collar labor should be paid equally to that of the genius who creates the products or builds the corporation that employs the workers.

You cannot be against Marxism but for corporations, the fattest, filthiest swine suckling the government teat.

It doesn't take a "genius" to "build" a corporation. It just takes starting capital, ruthlessness, connections and greed.

Are you going to argue that, 50 years ago, CEOs were only 20 times as valuable as a guy filing paperwork -- but now, CEOs are 450 times as valuable as a%2

Did you just get out of your Poli Sci class? How does Maxism factor into anything? Maybe you should step into a Logic class and learn your fallacies. Yours would be a Straw Man argument.

Boring? Off topic? You betcha!

Lindsay was really smokin' for a while there, when she was like 17. But now who cares.

If she had been an artist her fame might have outlasted her looks. Sarah Jessica Parker. But she was a porn star, and now she's old.

Stop slandering SJP. She is a gifted actress, who will always be relevant because she has talent.

Lindsay is her own worst problem. She can't seem to lay off the dr ugs, boo ze and ba d behavior. Scarlett is a saint in comparison (and much prettier and talented, too).

This is her agent's worst nightmare-

There is nothing worse than your talent publicly talking about how they are not getting roles. It just confirms to the directors and movie makers that they shouldn't hire you, because no one else is.

This is yet another thing on her list of things she will be learning from.

I do feel badly for anyone that has a problem with addiction though, it must be an extremely difficult thing
to overcome.

She's fighting to avoid the hollywood dumb site. Good-luck to her, but she better wake-up before her status becomes HAS BEEN.

Lohan always is aware if herself when she is acting. SJ looses herself in her roles . Big difference

p.s. one cutesy Disney movie does not mean she ever even had what is required to be a serious actress. Fom everything I have seen about this person she was terribly overrated to begin with, then pushed incessantly by the Hey Look I'm Still A Teenager Myself Only More Wrinkly Dina Lohan PR machine.

In the meantime Lindsay's personal life is like a slow motion train wreck you see over and over again. The funny thing is when people say is she straight? gay? bisexual? my first reaction is, who cares? She's not that interesting and it obviously kills her that people don't find her fascinating. The only person hanging all over her every move is her wannabe sister, who is headed for a similar life of hollywood mediocrity. If the whole dysfunctional family disappeared off the radar tomorrow it would be a blessing.

ha ha, serious actress, right. Honey, your bimbo wannabe teenager mom is a **BIG** part of your PR problem. Also quit with the ugly @ss perpetual orange spray tan and the late night clubbing and do something intelligent for a change. Your lifestyle has aged you so badly you look like you're pushing 40.

She is the oldest-looking, roughest looking, 22 year-old I have ever seen. That's what a train-wreck lifestyle will do for you. And I hate the orange tan, too.

Fortunately for her, Lindsay is beautiful, rich, and talented.Unfortunately for her she's also famous and had to make many of the mistakes we all make, in front of a camera lens.

Lighten up, folks, let her live her life.

My main problem with this young lady is she really doesn't have much acting ability. She's stilted, wooden and recites her lines in a way that sounds like nothing other than she's doing it by rote.

I'll give her points for the Hitchcock reference. Not sure that makes up for the witch doctor minister though....

Um, I won't. Aside from PSYCHO, REAR WIDOW and THE BIRDS, I doubt Ms. Lohan could name any Hitchcock films. In fact, I bet that she couldn't name five. Hitchcock is also a very recognizable name, even to those who aren't cinephiles. He's not even remotely obscure, even to twentysomethings. Its not like she said Robert Bresson or Fritz Lang.

She also laments that there aren't "too many films coming out these days that we're going to look at in the future and say, 'This is one of the great ones.'" Uh, that would be good percentage of the films she's been involved with, for sure. Mr. Altman's swansong is the closest she's ever come to being in a film that will be taken seriously, although, to be fair, MEAN GIRLS is a fine comedy.

If she's so interested in quality cinema, why not clean up the image, go after challenging projects and reject the swill she usually appears in? I'm guessing no one forced her to be in HERBIE FULLY LOADED.

Lindsey, you need to face up to the fact that YOU manifested this caricature of who you are.
