Lindsay Lohan: I Work As Hard As Scarlett Johansson

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Lindsay Lohan gave an interview to Lauren Hutton in the February issue of Interview, and bemoaned the state of her career and the poor film educations of youth today.

On not getting the same opportunities as other actresses: "But it's so impossible for me to actually [go someplace where no one knows me]. When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that. I mean, it is what it is. This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that's what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn't mean it's going to last forever.

On being in Hollywood to act, not to become a celebrity
: "I just feel as though it's become a situation where people have manifested this caricature of who I am, and they act as if there's no real person inside of it. I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this because I wanted to be a celebrity. But that was never my intention."

On the public misconception of her and the lack of knowledge about film
: "I wanted to be a movie star [growing up]. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don't think there are too many films coming out these days that we're going to look at in the future and say, 'This is one of the great ones.' Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I'm still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don't even know who those people are. I can't even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they'd be like, 'Okay, she's a freak. Something's wrong with her.'

*******

Speaking of Scarlett Johansson, it was reported last year that Lohan once scrawled "Scarlett is a cunt" on a bathroom wall.

See, here's the thing Linds, your career is in the tank because of how much time you spend face down in the gutter with you pants around your ankles. It's gonna take you a few years of having your act together before you'll be taken seriously for roles that are more than novelty, roles where your are seen as the character more than that drunk from the cover of the Enquirer. If your reputation gets in the way of your acting prowess, you're not worth it. And, you're not that great anyway but you're taking better pictures these days.

THE NOVELTY OF BEING A LESBIAN MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO SEE HER IN A HETEROSEXUAL OR INNOCENT ADULT FEMALE ROLE.......SHE'S GETTING ALL THE ATTENTION BECAUSE SHE WANTS IT. OTHER GAY AND LESBIAN ACTORS LIVE NORMAL LIVES AND PLAY A VARIETY OF ROLES ...SHE NEEDS THE ATTENTION AND GETS IT......GOOD THING IS ,YOU NO LONGER HEAR ABOUT HER PARENTS!

Here's how you fix your career, Lindsay:
1) 90 Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous meetings in 90 days to reset your brain
2) Drop Samantha like an expended SRB from the Space Shuttle in exchange for a woman of quality
3) The side gig as a singer ends now
4) Mommy is no longer your manager
5) Meet your new best friend: the bachelor's degree in theater

Hey Lindsay, why not create your own opportunities? You have enough money. Just start producing the scripts with the roles you really want and the directors you really want. Create some freedom for yourself. Moaning won't get you anything but tabloid write ups.

She's got the talent for it. Maybe smoking all those cigarettes is getting in the way of brain progress!

Lindsay has failed to notice that Scarlett has a certain level of talent. Lindsa has very little of same...end of story.

What are you blinded by beauty? S.J. sucks the life out of every scene she's in. Same droning, soulless delivery in every movie she does...with the exception of Ghost World, which I guess was beginners luck.

I don't know if SJ has more talent, but I do think she is more reliable and hard-working.

Lohan's picked a fight with Johansson she cannot win. If she is concerned about getting better roles maybe acting classes and not flaunting her lurid sexlife in every paper in the world would be a good start.

Johansson seems too classy to stoop to fighting with low-class bubblegummers.

Ryan Reynolds is really sexy just as Scarlett is very attractive. Scarlett has managed her career and relationships very well -- smart person.

Me, too, Lindsay! Me, too! I work as hard as both of you put together but my bank account doesn't look anything like yours. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Here's the thing you should really be moaning about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw9bxJb--3c

"I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this (at age three as a Ford model) ,because I wanted to be a celebrity. I was precocious, it's true, but in all honesty, it was my crazy-ass Mom and Dad who started me on this long downward spiral."

I've always believed that Lindsay was never so good as in those two great films The Parent Trap and Herbie Fully Loaded. Her depths of emotion and understanding of the medium were apparent in each and every frame.

Scarlett is known for her stunning beauty and her talent. Lindsay is known for her tabloid exploits. It's no surprise that Scarlett has a better reputation and gets the better roles.

Lindsay's career will never recover and she will never be taken seriously. The sad part? She did it to herself.
