You know her as Lisa Bonet from "The Cosby Show," and Lilakoi Moon (Bonet changed her name in 1995) has given birth to her third child: Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Lilakoi, 41, has a daughter Zoe, 20, with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz and a daughter Lola, 20 months, with boyfriend Jason Momoa of "Stargate: Atlantis" fame.

According to his website, Bonet delivered a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

From the fan forum on his official site.

He was born on the stormest, rainy night.

so Nakoa(warrior)...Mana(strength/spirit) Kaua(rain) po(dark)...

The name was always going to be Nakoa-Wolf, but Jason did the research on first middle name, 2nd middle name as you know is Jason's.

Bonet can currently be seen on ABC's "Life on Mars."

Hmm...letsee - the parents took times to give the child a name that had meaning and signficance - was honoring his ethnicity and heritage and the biggest complaints are:

1) It's not a superfluous bubblegum name
2) It's not "easy" as in guttural, easily grunted mono-syllabic form
3) It might actually make you THINK to spell it? S E E S P O T R U N

Guess it shows you, even in something as silly as a name - just how much Americans are about easy/fake/stupid/meaningless.

Whether you agree with the name or not, I commend them for the beautiful thought that went into it. Once upon our time, waaaay back in history, naming was a very significant and important event - oh wait, that was Native American...nvm, what was I thinking!

"Once upon our time, waaaay back in history, naming was a very significant and important event."
And then we all walked away from the cave fires. I submit that practically really nobody cares about the supposed "meaning" of their name. Peter means "stone." Nobody. Cares.

And let's face it, this kid is not going to be using his middle names. He's just not.

At this point, I think people are just fed up with fake-unique naming, so maybe it's a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. Naming your kids freakily tends to reflect badly on you. (Witness the Palins-- there's something... creepy about it.)

I agree, at least the Momoas chose a name that has significance to them (though their child may or may not appreciate it), as opposed to a random collection of syllables that sound vaguely hip. Seems like everywhere I turn, I come across some ridiculous "new" name, or a crazy/stupid spelling of an old one, or a last name as a first name, or a purported "meaning" that is totally BS. The country's inexplicably awash in Bryttani's, Caitlyn's, Bronx-Mowgli's and Crystyna's, and perhaps we have all hit our limit!

Why is it so strange for a child whose father is Hawaiian to have a Hawaiian name? And it's not like most people even use the middle name anyway. He'll be Nakoa or Wolf, unless he's in trouble...and then you have to admit that hearing "Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa--get your butt over here NOW!" is going to get the kid's attention.

Besides, with those parents, he's almost certainly going to grow up to be insanely good-looking no matter what his name is.

African Americans aren't supposed to be able to name themselves; a legacy from slavery.

I can imagine it now....
"Hello, so nice to meet you. Yes, these are my children: Zoe, Lola, and Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa....."
Something is wrong with that picture.

Celebrities are such one-uppers with the baby names!

And what's up with those boney cheekbones? Scary.

Forget about drivers licenses and other official documents. The teasing and the humiliation the child will get at school is enough to make the child change their name to David or Tiffney!!

Comments like these are idiotic. They reflect nothing more than American chauvinism and prejudice.
After all, why would anyone be using a child's full name in school? I went through 20 years of school and no one knew my middle name.
But the thought that, somehow, one's ethnic heritage should be hidden, should be a source of embarrassment, should be sublimated for the sake of adjusting to an ignorant society speaks to much of what is wrong with American culture today. And when such thoughts are expressed by people who don't even know how to use their own language--"make the child change THEIR
name?"--the hypocrisy gets to be truly astonishing.

try to say that three times fast....nevermind, try to say it at least once....

1) will all of that fit on the brith certificate line? on the diver license? Will the back of the license be used if it doesnt?
2) Is this Hawaiian? It doesn't look too Native American... Was she delerious from labor pains?
3) Assuming that, like most parents, when he messes up she will call his full name, how will she manage to yell his entire name without panting for air? "Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Na.. *wheeze* you get in this house right this instant!"
