White House Black Market's 'Inaugural Dress Headquarters': Clothing Label Milks Michelle Obama Publicity

The label behind Michelle Obama's feted dress on "The View" is, like much of the fashion industry, hoping the future First Lady can make them lots and lots of money. White House Black Market, WWD reports, will be converting its Union Station store in D.C. into the rather presumptiously named "Inaugural Dress Headquarters."

What this actually means is not clear, but the company's president did offer this new-agey statement: "Back in June, we were thrust into the spotlight when Mrs. Obama wore us on 'The View,' and since then we've been on a journey with her and we wanted to take her to the inauguration," said brand president Donna Noce. "Our tag line is 'From Our White House to Yours.'"

Fashion Trends: Go GREEN!

So much of our fashion is made in ways that are quite harmful to our environment. They use all kinds of dangerous chemicals in the growing and dyeing and manufacturing. Moreover. too many clothes are being made in overseas sweatshops, robbing Americans of their cash and jobs at the same time.

Buy American. Buy Green.

There are so many new options for eco-friendly fashion in the softest fabrics -- organic cotton, hemp, bamboo. These designers are on the cutting edge and trend setting. One can find eco-friendly in everything from undies, to casual to party dress up.

I voted for change. Green fashion -- that's change I not only believe in, but support when I shop.

Amazing to see the smile on Elizabeth's face and her body language--after the vitriole she spewed about Michelle Obama during the campaign--think she would have been less enthusiastic since she was not allowed to delve into vebotin discussion points...must not have been so important then.

I find it interesting that Mrs. Obama is a full head or more taller than everyone else in that picture. On another note, the Obamas don't seem to spend a whole lot on clothes and other such useless stuff. The kids' backpacks are from Target (just like the rest of us), and so are their down jackets, apparently. Michelle buys her clothes from J. Crew which is in the affordable "dress for your job" category; and Barack buys his suits off the rack. What a great family!
