Christine A. McCallum, Teacher, Accused Of Having Sex With Teen 300 Times

A married Massachusetts teacher accused of statutory rape allegedly had sex with a minor 300 times, police said.

Police said Christine A. McCallum, 29, had sex with the student on the boy's kitchen floor, in the shower and in the living room -- all beginning when he was 13-years old, the Boston Herald reported.

I was a criminal defense attorney in Massachusetts for several years. During that time, I tried several cases that were investigated by these particular police departments. Their officers were always quick to judge and did little investigating. Given this and the details revealed so far, I'm finding several problems with the Commonwealth's case as it has been presented in the media.

An excerpt on CNN.com showcased a biased, unprofessional talk show host, Mike Galanos, and the opinion of Robi Ludwig, a Psychotherapist who displayed very little credibility. She offered conclusions based solely on hearsay. A reputable analyst would never provide a professional opinion based on such unreliable information. The reality is, that based on the information made public, none of us know what actually happened. However, this defendant has not been indicted and was released on an unusually low bail given the allegations. There has not been a gag order issued but for obvious reasons the defense can comment very little. The only details being provided have come from the two police departments and none of that information would even come close to rendering a guilty verdict. It's very possible that this is a case of a rebuffed and jealous, revenge seeking teenage boy. So far all I see is a teacher who cared too much and used poor judgment, allowing herself to get too involved with this boy's life. I also see examples of biased media coverage which has led to a public conviction from an uninformed audience.

She's been busy! Seriously I would be beyond myself if a teacher took advantage of one of my kids at such a tender age. As is typical the kid was needy. I hope she gets the same treatment that a man would get if he did the same thing. No double standard here is allowed.

It would appear the mindset of many is that a pubescent fantasy justifies the actions of an adult toward a child. That it's not possible to harm a child if he's willing to cooperate. That decades of caring for abused children teaches us nothing. And that the laws meant to protect children are silly.

I honestly hope none of you ever have to watch your own son or daughter struggle with the scars of what you think is natural and acceptable. That you're able to see how precious and fragile childhood is without experiencing the loss firsthand. For their sake, let the big head do the thinking for awhile.

The sexual innocence of teen-age boys is ONLY idealized by their mothers. Anyone who is a male or who have been around teen-age boys knows the absolute rawness and obsession that boys have with sex and anything of a sexual nature.

If you go into a jr high or high school locker room and listen to the conversation it can peel the paint off the walls.

While I believe that this action on the part of the teacher was inappropriate-- Let's not pretend that the vast majority teen-age boys are wilting flowers afraid of being plucked by some sexually hungry female predator. That is a joke...

Teenage male sexuality is one of the most outrageous phenomenon in human development. It is one that men know about but rarely do they spill the beans in public conversation. Women on the other hand generally HAVE NO IDEA of the level of obsession and aggressiveness that teenage males show around sexuality,

Thank you. So I made a mistake about Mort gender. I just can't believe there are men thinking like women. I'm a married 42 y/o father of a boy born in 1993. I admit that my wife is much more "protective" than me toward own son. But I remember dam well how I was at 12 y/o. I would have gladly go to bed with all non-fatty girls of my class. You can bet on that. I even liked some of the teachers, but they were all married or wouldn't settle for any kind of flirting.
