Obama Will Eat Like Lincoln On Inauguration Day

On Inauguration Day, not only will President-elect Obama be sworn in using the Bible that was used to swear in President Abraham Lincoln, he will dine like Lincoln as well.

I wish this comparison with Lincoln would stop. I can't go to the movies from all this talk.
We don't need to compare him to anyone. He is our fresh leader and he will still be in wax with electronics one day in Disney at The Hall of Presidents regardless of this.

Every inauguration day has a theme. For Obama's inauguration, the theme chosen is (I believe appropriately) Lincoln. Because these themes are played out in luncheon menu's etc....does not mean that all of these decisions were made by Obama. For cripes sake...give it a rest. It's a THEME.

From the Washington Post 2005 - "(planners) gave Bush a menu from a train trip that Roosevelt took across Texas in April 1905 after his March inauguration. He said Bush inaugural planners are re-creating some dishes from the Roosevelt menu and serving them at lunches and dinners next week.
The official Bush theme was "Celebrating Freedom, and Honouring Service". At a cost of $40 million plus (the Bush) inauguration was the most expensive ever. So, let's savor this truly historical day.

Have we not had enough hate over the last 8 years? Lincoln would have cherished the idea of change. Sorry Lincoln was more open minded than that. He freed the slaves...period. Racist or not. Not perfect. Neither are we. The conservatives in this blog are backward and narrow minded. They gave us Bush. Obama is honoring Lincoln for christ sake. Why do we need to dig deeper than that? Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America ... a pretty big deal! On this historic day, I think he has earned the right to eat whatever he wants and to model whomever he wants. It's America's day and the world's day, but it's his day too. .

From the article: "The full menu was released by the Inaugural Committee on Friday, which also released the recipes for the meals should one want to try them at home." -What I want and what is feasible are two very different things! I would love to try some of that stuff, however, I can't afford a lot of the main ingredients so I can't. Ah well - such is life!

I dont think Lincoln had a bigger fan than Barack Obama. You use to think that Presidents of the past were always in the past and they rarely are discussed today but Obama seemed to have revived Lincoln. As far as Presidents who deserve to be revived he is definitely on the short list
