Sex Offender Wins Lottery For Sex Abuse Victims

The winner of the $500,000 statewide lottery to benefit a nonprofit that aids victims of sexual abuse is himself a convicted sex offender.

Alec Ahsoak, 53, came forward to claim his winnings on Saturday, said lottery organizer Abe Spicola, who owns Lucky Times Pull Tabs in Anchorage.

Okay...this is happening too much...I have heard things like this happen so many times already which is weird, it's always the s ex offenders or someone who has been in jail before always winning the lottery!!! Why is that?

Because of the perversity it is "newsworthy" thus reported and that is why we hear about it. Likely that the probability of these occurrences is consistent with the representation of the sex offenders etc. in the lottery-playing population.

Anyone has the right to buy a lottery ticket. And, it says all lotteries in Alaska must be connected to charity, so this could be a coincidence. Even if the lottery benefitted cancer research, the headline would still be sensational: "Sex offender wins lottery meant to help cancer victims."
