I Like ItI Don’t Like It

A spate of retirement announcements by Senate Republicans this year have further complicated attempts by GOP strategists to begin rebuilding a party devastated by across-the-board losses in recent elections.

The best thing about the GOP are these adorable pictures of baby elephants that Huff Po uses to accompany articles about the GOP. ;-D

Most of the GOP are truly a waste of space on the planet, I'd say Bohener can go into the hair shellak business, Mitchy boy could sell used cars, and the rest should start a sancituary for old elephants.
Once you've destroyed the country there's little else to do except sit around patting each other on the back, moaning about their losses and trying to undermine Obama. You could combine all their brains and you wouldn't come up with one good idea!

If Republicans lose more seats in 2010, I have no problem. These anti-middle class and anti-low income class politicians should be voted out and looking for a real job.

The conservative laser-like focus on locating socialism everywhere and whining about press bias should guarantee a return to glory for the Good Ole Party. It's especially good to hear that they don't think their conservative enough. Play their cards right, they could become a fringe group.

Prior to the 2006 elections, the Democrats had only 45 seats and now, two elections later, have 59.

14 seats in 2 elections. In an era were the incumbant is 95% likely be to be reelected.

They have focused for so long on their culture wars, wars in general and taxes with little attention to anything else.

They have fallen and can't get up.

The Republicans rigid and puritanical social platform stands in the way of progress and the future of this Country. They have allowed assorted religious groups to lead them along, rather than standing for the principles the party originally espoused. They should learn to get the religion out of their politics.....as we just went through 8 years of a bible thumping administration and look at this Country.

I agree with you. I think they should get more religion in their lives, i.e. take care of the sick, help the poor, feed the hungry, etc., and less in their politics.

Unfortunately for those who dictate the platforms, the country club dues are due and their stock portfolios are not what they used to be.

With rhetoric such as: drill, baby drill; winning the war; trickle down economics (that sure worked for this economy, NOT!); lies, smears and idols like the likes of hannity, coulter and rush is it any wonder they are a thing of the past??

I'm going to do the left-wing liberal bunny hop right across this post: hop, hop, hop. hop, hop, hop. Goody! That was fun.

Bye Bye, Republicans.

Drill, Baby, Drill! Drill the out-of-touch GOP right into oblivion where they belong! President Obama is going to usher in a new wave of younger, more globally astute Dems and this country is going to regain its leadership position in the world. GObama!

Think I'll wait to see how the next couple of years play out before I declare the GOP dead. After all, these things tend to be cyclical and it's not as though either party has clean hands, ethically speaking.

I loved those last 2 paragraphs where they tried their hardest to put a positive spin on 4 retiring incumbent senators. You keep hopin repubs, 2010 won't be any better than 2008 was, PLUS if Obama is helping the American people like I know he will, 2012 will only be slighty better for you than 2010.

Now people are getting it. The reality here is that the GOP is dying. They are falling into the abyss the way the Whig party collapsed before they became republicans. We will win 7 seats in the 2010, in the south, FL and LA, in the midwest, MO, IA, OH, in the mid atlantic, PA. central plains, KS... and I think Thune in SD is vulnerable as well. What we all have to do is keep our eye on the ball, talk to our family and friends, build coalitions and start raising money. If you think 59 seats is nice wait till you get a load of 66 seats.
