Tracy Morgan

Tracy Morgan spoke on behalf of "30 Rock" when the show won its Golden Globe and had one of the funniest speeches of the night.

"Tina Fey and I had an agreement that if Barack Obama won, I would speak for the show from now on. Welcome to post-racial America! I am the face of post-racial America. Deal with it Cate Blanchett!

He added, "A black man can't get no love at the Emmys. I love you Europe!"

His acceptance speech was outright hilarious! Those who didn't understand and or appreciate the humor in his speech are the unevolved dregs of an isolationist/elitist dumbed-down America who will die out without becoming enlightened.

Furthermore, it disparages Barack Obama to suggest any relationship between the two men. They're both Black... so what!

Dear Huffpo: What happened to the rest of my comment? Which read:

Here's my take on Tracey Morgan. For context purposes, I am Black (aka African American).

Black people likely think Tracey Morgan is the jive-talking, ebonics-speaking, idiot charicature that Blacks have to play in order to get work in Hollywood. See also: David Alan Greer, DL Hughley, Eddie Murphy, etc. Will Smith is making progress moving away from those roles. Non-Black people think Morgan is "genius!" If you want to know what genius is... see Dave Chappelle.

Agree, but can't leave out the ones who went before:

Sorry, but Chapelle went into the very territory that Tracy is in. You don't think that Tyronne Biggums, Rick James, The Haters, or any other Chapelle characters were any less offensive than Tracy's? Please! Tracy is funny and he does it in a way that might not appeal to you because he's not going to go on a show and "discuss" it. He's a talent and he never makes me feel any less of people.

I believe what he said was only meant to get a laugh, not provide a resolution for world peace. He's a member of a comedy team, and people in comedy make jokes. Must we psychoanalyze everything?

i don't really get tracy's humor. for some reason it seems that except for eddie murphy SNL has always had a problem finding talented minority comedians, yet somehow MadTV never had that problem and was many times funnier.

Here's my take on Tracey Morgan. (For the purpose of context: I am Black, aka African American)

Black people are not amused by Tracey Morgan because he perpetuates the jive-talking, ebonics-speaking, idiot character that Blacks must play in order to get work in Hollywood. See also: David Alan Greer, DL Hughley, Eddie Murphy, etc. Will Smith is making great progress in moving away from those charicatures.

Non-Black people think Tracey Morgan is "genious!"

That's Tracy's schtick, and it works for him. Some find him funny, some don't. I do find him quite entertaining, although his style can be a bit annoying. For classic Tracy Morgan you have to go back to his time as "Hustle Man" on the Martin series in the 90's when he was about 70 lbs heavier, and a lot funnier. I'm just happy to see him tackle sobriety and keep his job on a major network hit TV show.

The Cate Blanchett line was fantastic, just incredible. Closely followed by Fey's Hollywood Foreign Press Action Figures line for favourite line of the night.

(Un)fortunately not everyone is familiar with the non sequitur:

She was probably the first non-American actress that he set his eyes on when he was giving the speech. It was a funny line.

It's funny simply because it makes absolutely no sense, and the setting, an awards ceremony in danger of taking itself too seriously, made it hilarious.

Genius? You must be joking. He was on SNL for years and never got through a single sketch without flubbing his lines. He was a talentless disaster. Every moment he was on air was excrutiating. That the man actually has a job, post SNL, is a testament to the sucking black hole of god awful mediocrity that is Hollywood.

That was hilarious and seemed off the cuff. "Holla Jeff Zucker" aka Jay Z.

It was even funnier in person because they panned to a shot of the real Jay Z sitting with Beyonce. They both were laughing.

I love Tracy Morgan's character on 30 rock. It suits his crazy, over the top shtick perfectly.

30 rock is the funniest thing on tv right now.

Interesting that if you want to watch mr. Morgan profess his love for us Europeans over here in actual Europe, the embedded NBC player throws up an error message saying "We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location".

Not particularly interesting, no. None of NBC's official videos (via hosting site Hulu.com) are accessible from outside the US. Been that way since they started.

Oh really, no have not watch the show. However, if Johnny Depp comes dressed in Character as Jack Sparrow to pick up an award at every award event people will say he lost his mind Tracy no different. I didn't she Tina Fey come in character as Sarah Palin. It 's healthy to distinguish between reality and fictional.

Johnny Depp isn't a comedian. Neither is Tina Fey.
