In his final press conference this morning, President Bush was asked to respond to his harshest critics over the past eight years, whom Charles Krauthammer has described as being afflicted with

Via Think Progress, Krauthammer later appeared on Fox News with this gem of a reference to the Iraqi shoe-throwing journalist Muntadhir Al-Zaidi: "[Bush] took a shoe for the country, a bullet for the country."

The "ugliness" you perceive in Krauthammer isn't in his physical appearance, it comes from THE INSIDE. The hate and negativity in his heart radiates outward. Having given up masochism years ago, I do not subject myself his "ugly American" rhetoric on Fox - and I've learned to not even take a curious peek at his weekly syndicated op-ed column - which invariably triggers a dangerous blood-pressure spike. He is no doubt an intelligent man - but his conclusions are truly frightening.
