TEHRAN (Reuters) - Dozens of Iranians burnt posters of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama in Tehran on Tuesday and waved Palestinian flags in support of Gaza, according to a witness and photographs.

Iranian demonstrators have often burnt effigies or pictures of U.S. presidents in protests. This appeared to be the first time Obama's picture had been defaced so publicly, a week before his inauguration as president.

This is our President, not theirs. Our honeymoon is not over, it has just begun....just see how much bipartisanship is occurring over the Treasury Secretary.

Funny, only the extremist in America and Iran hate Obama.

Folks, there are people who want no peace and want no change.

Those people marching have the same core beliefs as the neocons we are booting from DC.

Wow. With 3 already in the pocket, Obama now needs only 254 more "Official Endings to the Honeymoon" to beat the number of "No. 2 Al Qaeda leaders" killed to date.

POLL QUESTION (Fill in the blank):
What will be the next event to signal the next offcial ending to the Obama Honeymoon?

None of us can make judgments on Obama yet. Wait until Jan 21st and on...then make your judgments. I pray he is not another boot licker for Israel and does the humane thing. For America and the world!

Exactly, we have extremists on differnt sides of the SAME coin.

99% of Iranians want peace and prosperity.

Obama will put pressure on Israel, why else are they rushing to destroy Gaza now?

I don't see people holding these signs. I believe it could be anywhere, like:

a) In a cat-lady's backyard in Minnesota
b) A place where Russia can see what's going on
c) A West Hollywood home, as a satirical decoration
d) The current administration's dart board, which they almost forgot to destroy

Any others? I bet some of you can think of much better places than this.
In all honesty, I never like seing people's effigies being burnt. Doesn't matter which President. I didn't like the show throwing thing either, although I thought George moved quick. I was impressed.
I have to say though, my gut reaction to the show throwing would have been more like "A lot of people have been killed and there is a lot of anger out there." Not, "Big deal. He wanted to get on T.V." Oh well. that's another topic. I know I can never keep them all straight. Take care.

to Objective Realist,
While I do agree with your sentiment, I also do agree with President Obama when he says if Rockets where flying into my neighborhood where my wife and kids lived I would want my Government to stop the senseless attacks as well. I am by no means making an excuse for Israel because I do believe that they have oppressed the Palenstinians by not allowing them full rights to Gaza. But the fact still remains what would you want done if rockets where pouring in from Mexico to Cali. or Texas??

Obama would be right only in a case when his family had taken over his neighbor's house and the neighbor was firing rockets at his house to get him out. Is Obama planning to occupy a neighbor's house?

Cali, I would have a problem. Texas, I have to think about it. Just kidding folks , just kidding.

I'm confused lets say I get past the fact that its dozens and believe me thats mighty hard to get past but lets say I do. Was Iranians suppose to like Obama? Was he suppose to have a honeymoon with them. I think we need to be careful what we say because I dont believe Obama was elected by the world he was elected by the United States.

But its still dozens which could be 48, 60. Let me know when there are thousands.

Which "crownds"? The look right behind the photos supposedly on fire. It looks like a window with orange colored curtains. Is this inside someone's house? Good photo manipulation and a losing propaganda piece.

I still have high hopes for President Obama, but I'm not surprised Iranians are disappointed in him. I am also, in terms of what he has said recently about their part of the world, but I understand he has no power to make any changes this week to my country's blind allegiance to Israel. I hope his rhetoric takes a less biased tone January 21st or soon after. His statement that he would do anything necessary to defend against rockets would make an easy pivot, considering that so far 13 Israelis have died in the same period that around 1000 Gazans have been killed. Israel is still being given status of "victim" and "defender" by my so-called "government" but the operation they are conducting is a massacre.

Retards. Obama is not president yet, and even when he is elected it will take longer then the 8 years he is president to make your 3000 years of hate go away.

I think we ought to send every adult in Iran a marijuana joint, let them feel love for everyone for at least an hour or two.

Is having a joint the only way you know as to how to love? tragic.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:47 AM on 01/14/2009

No, but it seems to be the only way the nuts in Iran could feel love for everyone.

And besides, I thought god created everything...since marijuana grows without human intervention, that means god created it...is god wrong?

This is, of course, hinging on whether you believe in god or not. Given your knee-jerk reaction to what pokemon said, I can only assume you are either insanely closed minded or hypocritical (I bet you like having a beer when you watch football, don't you).
