omg. That's the name of my former and much-hated piano teacher. Her sister's name is Ophelia. I believe both were named after literary characters.

I think it's a great name. At least it's "normal" and not something crazy like "Appleloodledingdong" :o)

Does anyone recall the name Seraphina Pekkala from the "His Dark Materials" series of books? (The Golden Compass is Book 1).

Seraphina was the queen of the good witches of the north and protected the holder of the compass. She was described as being very beautiful, noble, fierce.

For anyone reading this: has anyone else noticed that it's become standard practice to announce a new Hollywood baby's name on this web site, in order to invite commentary? This is because most of the names are so strange, and certainly are a semi-interesting topic of discussion (and jokes) if one is very bored.

That's beautiful.
My 14 yr old daughter has a collection of names for her 23 future children. They're worthy of Hollywood and include:
Vodka, Mushroom Nubuck, Gourd, Spaniel, Vespa, Patella, Insomnia, Trout, and Ammonia.

I'm going to be such a proud granny one day.

You forget that there are two middle names - Rose & Elizabeth. She can always use S. Rose Affleck if she wishes.

SERAPHINA
"Gender: Feminine

Usage: English (Rare), German (Rare)

Feminine form of the Late Latin name Seraphinus, derived from the biblical word seraphim which was Hebrew in origin and meant "fiery ones". The seraphim were an order of angels, described by Isaiah in the Bible as having six wings each. This was the name of a 13th-century Italian saint who made clothes for the poor. As an English name, it has never been common."

Has a nice ring to it. I have to apologize for the copy and paste effect.

Someone else said it was a South-African wind instrument. I'm getting confused.

And I thought it could be from Greek Mythology. Thanks for clarifying.

Say, aren't there some bugs with six wings; dragon flies? Well, all kidding aside, it is a pretty name and it is a good thing they didn't name the little booger, Aflac. Mazel Tov!
