Teenage Mom, Freed After Getting Ugg Stuck In Tracks, Dragged To Her Death By Boyfriend

A mother-of-two was dragged into the path of a train by her angry boyfriend seconds after another man had saved her when her foot was caught in a level crossing, a court heard yesterday.

Kelly Mack's Ugg-style boot had become wedged in the side of a track before a passer-by pulled her to safety.

Seriously though, how the heck are British train tracks built that people can just go criss-crossing over them so willy nilly ... ?

This is a level-crossing, where pedestrians and cars cross the train-tracks (quite common in heavily built-up areas). The crossing has automatic barriers which come down well in advance of a train's arrival, and then automatically rise again after the train has left. The barriers are large, have flashing lights attached and a siren/bell which sounds as they begin to move. The pedestrian part of the crossing is paved to make it easier to cross. After all of these precautions, a bit of common sense is then expected of users, such as not trying to dash across as the barrier comes down! These level-crossings are common all over Europe, and accidents are exceptionally rare. This story is really strange in a number of ways...
