TVA Found In Violation Of Tennessee Water Quality Act
The Tennessee Valley Authority was found in violation of the state's Water Quality Control Act of 1977 after sludge from the No. 3 Ocoee Dam was released into the Ocoee River on Sunday.
TVA has been given until Jan. 22 to submit a plan for restoring the Ocoee River "within the affected reach to pre-event status."
The release of water at the dam Sunday sent tons of bottom lake mud down the river, causing some fish to be killed and coating the Ocoee Whitewater Center's sidewalks with foul-smelling mud.
