ummm, all we need are feed in tariffs and loan programs, like 40 nations already have, to make the BEST INVESTMENT for the planet and our wallets - rooftop solar. albania provides financing and pays people for power they feed into the grid, but california doesn't. that, right there, should get the point across. with the right incentives, we can ramp up clean, sustainable, harmless energy that HELPS PEOPLE INSTEAD OF HIJACKING THEM.

instead of eminent domain and destroyed open spaces, we have vastly improved property values. instead of increased energy bills for monopolistic infrastructure, we get green power into the grid very cheaply and democratically. instead of paying more because of supply and pricing manipulations, millions of us could zero out our bills AND COLLECT A CHECK. instead of destroying functioning ecosystems that absorb carbon (like the Mojave) and killing everything that lives there while emitting TONS of GHGS (yes, building Industrial Wind, Solar and Transmission is deadly!), we could save our species and carbon sinks so they can do what they are supposed to.

please, support feed in tariffs and lending for US instead of allowing all our resources to be gobbled up by Big Energy mercenaries...

Your employer is cheap and uses poor quality lighting. Quality fixtures and bulbs reduce the flicker to a minimum. When it is done properly the flicker is not even noticeable.

VMware (owned by EMC) saves a lot of energy because it enables one to replace numerous computers with a single system.

The thermostat programmer is a good idea.

I already have power strips all over the house and it doesn't take TOO much "reprogramming" to get the habit of using them. I get the ones with a clear red switch which lets you know if they are on or off (just in case you forgot and switched the appliance off without using the strip)..

I despise flourescent bulbs and they hate me too. I need to take an incandescent lamp to work to overcome the flicker of the overhead flourescent bulbs which cause me great discomfort. My eye doctor told me to do this.

I like to joke about this matter by saying that only crazy people are unaffected by flourescent lighting. I wish leftists would make a big stink against them.
