Bush On Obama: "I Do Like Him. You'd Like Him, Too" (VIDEO)

In an interview with "Larry King" Tuesday night, President Bush said he was a fan of his successor.

Asked by King if he liked Obama, Bush replied, "I do. I do like him. You'd like him, too."

But Laura Bush said she took some of Obama's critiques of her husband personally.

"Were you angry at it?" King asked.

"Yes, sort of. George didn't really even know about it because he didn't really watch it that much," Laura Bush said, laughing.

Bush also said that "during the course of this presidency, I've been disappointed at times by the silly name-calling that goes on in Washington -- it's really not necessary."

If George Bush really likes Obama, it would be interesting to have a body language expert analyze the Bushes, and the Obamas when they famously met at the White House, after the election. The reason I find it interesting? Notice when Bush shakes Obama's hand. He moves his jaw from side to side. But he also did the same thing when the reporter in Baghdad threw his shoes at Bush. There are some other things I noticed while Bush and Obama walked together that I won't go into now. But I'm inclined to think that Bush naturally sees Obama as his antithesis. I could be wrong! But I doubt Bush is being sincere, when he says that he likes the guy who stands for practically everything that he is not!

It's all about dominance. Obama is very good at establishing dominance while being very pleasant. That's the hand on the back.

Bush has done it too, usually inappropriately. He did it to Germany's PM, Angela Merkel, and he famously did it years ago to Queen Elizabeth, who, as a Royal, is never supposed to be touched. (I know, I think that's silly too, but it did cause a stink in Britain.)

Anyway, Bush has always been inappropriately familiar and touchy feely, but he was much more confrontational and ham-handed about it, more often offending than pleasing.

Same with his infamous nicknames, which were meant to convey familiarity but more often offended the recipients - but, and this is the dominance part of it, what could anyone do about it? He's the preznit and if he wants to call you a stupid nickname or pat you on the back, what are you going to do to stop him?

It probably pissed Bush off to no end to have Obama do it to him and to do it so much smoother, hence the clenched jaw. Bush's massive ego is taking a beating while he tries to stay publicly gracious.

The Blair House snub was a cowardly way to take a cheap snipe at those who have clearly outclassed the Bush's. And the Obama's will continue to outclass them - and the Bushes will never be able to forgive being outclassed by people they consider to be "uppity".

Too bad Laura, too freakin' bad. Some people are adults who call it as they see it. Some people just aren't the loyal Bush bootlickers you want them to be. Grow up and finally realize that your hubby failed and just about did more damage to America than our enemies.

But I have a question for Bush: if you liked him so much why didn't you tell your wife to be a grown up and let the Obamas occupy Blair House instead of having to stay in a hotel? So instead you allowed her pettiness override your image rehab program? Good show!

Assuming that Laura controlled the Blair House schedule is giving way too much credit to Laura. That is way more of a job than she does. They have loyal and lowly staffers for that kind of grunt work - one of them probably is behind the deliberate slight.

And you will never hear the Obama's mention it or complain about it. They will simply ignore the slights and keep moving on to the next challenge.

Who does Laura's makeup? A mortician? She looks exactly the same as she did 8 years ago. Same smile. Same immovable hair. But, she sounds like she picked up some of her mother-in-law's 'charming' personality.

I had a revelation recently upon seeing Laura's smiling face. For years I had this vague sense that it was familiar but nothing clicked. I buried my father day before Christmas Eve and my evangelical type sister-in-law was there (I'm gay and they all know it and tho I don't flaunt it around them, it's kind of amusing at times). It was a day or two later that, upon seeing the pic of Mrs Bush, the stunning similarity hit me. The same cloying, sickeningly oh so sweet false "christian" smile mask with eyes that betray the realization of one's own hypocrisy and cluelessness. Why the surprise that Laura stuck it out with George? They compliment each other perfectly. Neither one of them will look in HIS mirror.
