China Arrests Biker Gang Selling Migrant Children

Police have broken up a gang of motorcyclists that snatched toddlers to sell in distant provinces, Chinese media reported today.

The children were abducted in broad daylight from the southern city of Yueyang, in Hunan province, and sold for as little as 860 yuan (85 pounds).

This is absolutely horrifying to me. What on earth are these people made of that could do this to a small child? The humans on this big blue marble have lost their minds. I wish I could round up every abused child and animal and live on my own beautiful island where there is no news, no TV and no abusive humans. Just lots of fresh water, green grass, and food. It is just so unreal to me, a woman who tried for so many years to have a baby only to find out that wasn't possible, that people treat children like "cabbages" to be sold cheaply. Because of my health history adoption is not possible and thus my husband and I make do with being the favorite aunt and uncle. But it breaks my heart to hear of children who are abused like this.
As a citizen of the US I was very angry when the US granted most favored nation status to China, especially in light of their record on human rights. Has it improved much since then?
As a consumer, I try so hard not to buy products from China but it is so difficult! I do not trust that their bureaucracy cares at all about my safety. I recently found out, when trying to buy a friend's baby a toy that it is almost impossible to find anything not made in China unless you spend a fortune. Well, we spent a fortune. Better that and buy American and know the toy is safe than take a chance on a sick child.

I totally support your post. I constantly struggle to find toys (and everything else for that matter) not made in china - and I am confounded that we have allowed our manufacturing jobs to be shifted to a country that has insufficient oversight capabilities and incredibly lax if any environmental and occupational health and safety regulations. The products themselves may be less expensive but there are far so money other costs that should be considered.

I do the China test wherever I go now and I am appalled at the amount of clothing, furniture, non-food items are made in China at all the stores. My son received a very nice Pendleton derby hat for Christmas and I couldn't believe it was made in China. It actually angers me.

China has long been condemned (silently) for their human rights abuses by executing people for non violent crimes like Drug smuggling and corruption.

Well, they should have ZERO problem executing these sob's and I, the ultra pacifist liberal will support them every step of the way.
