I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Gwyneth Paltrow has a new job, and it isn't acting.

Paltrow, who shared her grueling workout secrets with Oprah last year, is partnering with her trainer to open a gym:

For her latest venture, the "Iron Man" star is partnering up with friend and trainer Tracy Anderson to open a gym in Tribeca, her rep tells the Daily News.

Add that to running Goop.com, mugging for Estee Lauder and starring in the PBS TV series, "Spain ... on the road Again" with Mario Batali and you've got one busy bee.

No other details on the gym are available yet. Paltrow, who keeps a home in downtown New York, will next be seen in a movie in 2010, and will star in "Iron Man 2."

She debuted her post-two-children body during the press junket for "Iron Man," and then worked out for Oprah's cameras. Watch some of that workout here.

Is this such a good thing? Coming from a woman that does fasts and all sorts of odd "cleanses" for her body to maintain her WASPy figure? I don't think so....

Brother,, they all do.

Jodie Foster was directing a movie in my city and I was watching them film.

Suddenly this, blanched, skinny tom-boyish looking person wearing a baseball cap arrived.

She came over to the food table and was abt 3 feet from me. Man, you wld never hve known it was Jodie.

She then went into a trailer for 30 min. and then came out, looking like you see her on TV and in films.

I wish she would open her gym in London. There's no shortage of gyms in New York. It's hard finding somewhere good to work out in England. The British need this a lot more than we do.

I'm sorry but did you just say the British need gyms more than the Americans do? Just want to make sure my eyes aren't deceiving me.

No, I was making a completely unrelated, stupid comment. I'm just uninterested in Gwenyth's gym and I like these two particular Brits and .....oh....never mind.

England has two of my favorite thinkers right now: Alain De Botton AND Adam Thirlwell. They get "The School of Life".
Maybe we could trade. The U.S gets these guys and they can have a gym.

I like Gwyny. This story is great for keeping the commercials from running together.

Actually, I think this is great. She's doing something healthy! Taking care of herself, setting a good example for her kids. I love this idea and applaud her for doing the right things for herself and sharing that with other people.

P.S. Not a fan otherwise, but when someone does a good thing, I can recognize!

Next thing she will be selling her colon cleanse detox system. Am I the only one who thinks that Gwyneth is a little obsessed with her fitness and diet regime?

Nope, you're not.

Thanks to HuffPo I am wondering if her Gym will have special rooms for 'colonic irrrigation', because of, you know, the 'poisons' that she insists are aggregating there in our intestines. This idea, that we should be forcing liquids into our colons to wash them 'clean', is an oldie but goodie and can lead to death. Some warnings:

Colonic irrigation can cause severe adverse effects and must be carefully administered. People receiving frequent treatments may absorb too much water, leading to electrolyte imbalances in the blood, nausea, vomiting, heart failure, fluid in the lungs, abnormal heart rhythms or coma. Infections have been reported, possibly because of contaminated equipment or as a result of clearing out normal colon bacteria. There is a risk of bowel perforation (breakage of the bowel wall), which is a severe complication. Deaths have been reported.

Colonic irrigation should not be used in people with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe or internal hemorrhoids or tumors in the rectum or colon. It also should not be used soon after bowel surgery (unless directed by your health care provider). Regular treatments should be avoided by people with heart disease or kidney disease (renal insufficiency). Be sure that the equipment used is sterile and that the practitioner is experienced. Colonic irrigation should not be used as the sole treatment (instead of more proven therapies) for severe conditions, and it should not delay consultation with a qualified health care provider for a potentially severe symptom or illness.

I hope that some of Gwen's colon cleansing fans read your post. You spelled out all of the risks quite well. Thank you.

This is no less interesting than our having to read about it practically every time that hypocrit angelina takes a crap!

I can tell you, anyway, that the Anderson system works if you stick with it.

I dont have experience of her method but this is what I have read on Amazon from people who bought her DVD.

It takes ages to learn the steps - and to have to learn the choreography sounds like to much hard work. Some reviewers took months.

I have also read this that she is not a very good instructor - she does not demonstrate the movements clearly.

It seems you would have to go to the gym as the DVD isnt so good.

In other words, she is no Jane Fonda who was a sheer genius with the fitness routines.
