To Bradley Schlozman, they were "mold spores," "commies" and "crazy libs."

He was referring to the career lawyers in the Justice Department's civil rights and voting rights divisions. From 2003 to 2006, Schlozman was a Bush appointee who supervised them. Along with several others, he came to symbolize the midlevel political appointees who brought a hard-edged ideology to the day-to-day workings of the Justice Department.

Since he broke the law in his hiring practices, does that mean the people he hired can be fired?

I would be Black and Bitter too if I had to put up with this type of ignorance at work. I guess this is just another reason I dont buy this post racial America business. How can someone like this even be considered for a post like the one he held? This apointment was no accident, and hey the man even stated his intentions.

The politicization of the Justice Department is one of the most disturbing crimes of the Bush administration. There is ample evidence that Schlozman broke the law and he should be prosecuted, period. If Schlozman isn't held accountable, there is no justice.

Diane Feinstein brought this very issue up to Eric Holder today. She had a lengthy report from the Investigative General that found that Schlozman broke the law and that he lied to the Judiciary Committee. She also said that some prosecutors reviewed the report and suggested not to prosecute him. She wanted to know if Mr. Holder would hold Schlozman accountable for breaking the law and lying to the government. Holder said he hadn't seen the report yet. He had only see news reports of it. And that he would review the report and make his decision after wards. Let's hope he adds this numb skull to the list of Rethugs that need put behind bars.

This morning I found myself once again hanging by my toes from the clouds, once again lost in a world turned upside down.

I was driving to a distant appointment listening to Ed Schultz on Air America rail on about how Geithner should be dumped for his tax mistake. NOT ONE WORD ABOUT SCHLOZMAN, in the whole show, at least while I was listening, which coming and going was for most of his show. Same story in most of the MSM save for Keith Olberman. Even the Huff Post gave the front page this morning to just one more hedge fund criminal holed up at a KOA campsite.

I'm not here so much to defend Geithner as I am to question, once again, the priorities of the media, even guys like Schultz who calls himself a progressive. Why the hell does Giethner have to answer to a tax mistake he has now paid up when Schlozman was not prosecuted for lying to congress, not to mention the huge wad of spit he shot into the eye of the DOJ and you and I.

Hello...this guy worked in the department of CIVIL RIGHTS, in the department of JUSTICE. I'm telling you, living in an upside down world makes the blood rush to your head, and you wonder when it's going to explode.

Supposedly Dick Cheney is thrilled about Obama's inauguration, but didn't he call anti-apartheid activists in South Africa terrorists?

IF in fact the inspector general has already concluded that Schlozman violated civil services laws while at the Justice Department, and IF it is determined (on a balance of probabilities) that he gave false testimony to Congress, then the Office of Professional Responsibility should be moving to have him disbarred from the practice of law (violating the law, and giving false testimony is more than enough to justify the measure). Further, if he were to take up practice in any particular state, that state bar should also have more than enough grounds to deny him the license to practice law there. I can think of no greater punishment for an ethically challenged attorney than to be publicly disgraced amongst his/her peers (mold spores included), and to then be denied the opportunity to practice law, based upon his/her failure to follow the Rules of Professional Conduct. Frankly, he doesn't deserve a job at the local bottling plant, let alone serve as an practicing attorney. The same standards should apply to Gonzalez, Monica Goodling, Kyle Sampson, and all the other right-wing hacks that infected the Attorney General's Office, and the DOJ.
