I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Kevin Bacon needs a job.

Last month New York Magazine revealed Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were two of Bernie Madoff's victims, and may have lost everything they had but their real estate and checking accounts.

Bacon spoke to Life & Style Magazine about it at a Television Critics Association event:

"We'll march on. We have to. There¹s nothing you can do about it. You can't change what happened. Things could be worse. You remember that, and you go on with your life.

But Kevin was shocked by the news of Madoff's scam. "I didn¹t see it coming," he said.

Asked by Life & Style what he's currently working on, Kevin replied: "I don't have anything lined up right now, but I need to work, for obvious reasons."

Bacon is currently appearing in "Frost/Nixon" while his wife stars on TNT's "The Closer."

He'll drum up something for sure. He's not my favorite actor, but he's good enough and his performances are reliable. His wife is working now which is good. I'm sure they're still pretty well off by most standards, but they didn't deserve to get hosed by this joker Madoff.

I wonder if the Bacons can sue Madoff AND the SEC for failing to perform their duty.
The Bacons don't deserve scorn or ridicule.
Even if you dont sympathize, dont attack them for being scammed.

Meanwhile, Madoff deserves Hell.

All that can be done to Madoff is being done. The guy wasn't a Certified Financial Planner and had NO LICENSE of any kind to do financial transactions with ANYONE. How he got the reputation as a "mover and shaker" in the financial world.....I don't know. I haven't finished that part of my research yet. I do know that everybody who was ANYBODY,(especially the "AList" actors) wanted Bernie to handle their money. Wolf in sheeps clothing? NO! Try a THUG in a Brooks Brothers Suit.

I wish one more thing could be done. Allowing Madoff to sit in his multi-million dollar townhouse while awaiting trial is obscene. This is the worst scam in history and he is enjoying the fruits of his crime while he awaits trial. We can only hope his eventual residence is much less pleasant.

Kevin, didn't his last name give you a clue as to what he was going to do with your money?

Looks like Kevin really 'tied one on." I think he'd better check into rehab before seeking work.

Good attitude Kevin.... your the man.

But from the photos it looks like he has been waiting for soup at the mission down on San Pedro.

If he ever loses Kyra he just might be waiting in line. Stay married fool.

Going by the photograph of Mr. Bacon accompanying this article, he needs to work if for no other reason than to get out of the house for some fresh air and sunlight. He looks like a zombie with a good tailor.

It doesn't matter if they have a billion dollars - it was THEIR MONEY and they were ripped off.
So if YOU have a great job, work your whole life and save a lot of money, it is ok if someone steals it because you have a lot?
Some of you are real asswipes.

A lot of people work hard and save, but they don't get paid millions. And typically, when the rich and famous fall on hard times, somebody shows up to offer them a lot more. Kevin isn't in the same boat as most people who have lost their savings and their jobs. Stealing from anyone is not right, but the Bacons won't feel it like average Americans.

It was their money and they should have been a lot more careful with it. Personal accountability. Research pays, but it is risk nonetheless. See a comment by ColoradoDan below and more from me.

How about the Bacon Brothers team up with Joaquin Phoenix? Kind of a Smothers Brothers/ Rap / Johnny Cash rock kinda thing?

I cannot believe that these folks hit that greed button so hard ... tens of millions is just not enough nowadays for some.... they gotta have more, more, more. Shameful how damned materialistic and greedy our nation became.

And I like Kevin.

Actually they have donated quite large sums of their "wealth" to some really incredible causes. Do your research first or shut up tool. Maybe it wasn't entirely altruistic but still, both of them have given back quite a lot.

Don't cry for them--she's got to be making a 7 figure salary in her hit show

They lost their money because their financial advisor put their money in it. Or in a fund that invested in Madoff's scheme. I really don't think it was THEIR decision.

Lots of BANKS had money in Madoff stuff. Are you going to call every one of the bank's customers greedy fools who didn't diversify?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:50 PM on 01/16/2009

Nice logic ... once again, we should all just plead 'no accountability'.

Banks have been known to launder drug money for decades ... lots of shady deals have been going down the past decade amigo. Enron, World Crossing ... just the tip.

Anyone with money should do their homework. Lots of folks saw what was coming 2-3 years ago and bailed ... but one needed to study and read and (dare I say it?) be personably accountible.

But the BIG returns proved to be too enticing for the greedy is all. Madoff knew how lazy and greedy the big money earners are and that all they would look at is the return. Never questioning HOW he did it, where the profits came from and so on.

Yes it was THEIR decision. They had to have signed some kind of contract!

Silly logic.

Thank you for a voice of reason. It certainly is a bad thing that all this happened. But you are right. Accountability is number one. If only EVERYONE was held accountable for their actions. I can think of $825 billion worth of reasons for that. Taking the chance of everyone ripping into me I'll say this too... Fannie and Freddie need to go down, talk about stupid irresponsible business choices. Those that took on $500,000 home loans and couldnt afford them, unfortunately are also in that list. We were born with brains, we need to use them and quit with the hand outs or our children are going to grow up expecting them.
