I Like ItI Don’t Like It

President George W. Bush has been using his last weeks in office making the case that he was not a disaster as president. There's not much else for him to do -- after all, no one cares what he thinks about the issues. Everyone, even those who voted for John McCain, are waiting for Barack Obama to take the oath of office on Tuesday. A lame duck even before the election of his replacement, most any president becomes the lamest of lame ducks in his final weeks in office. Especially one as unpopular as President Bush.

Good for a sardonic laugh is the Bush administration wrap-up, "Policies of the Bush Administration: 2001-2009." Needless to say, it portrays a heroic statesman who made America safer, freer, and wealthier. It suggests we are living in a parallel universe like that in a Star Trek episode.

The unwary thought they were voting for good ol' Bubba, a fun guy to down some brewskis with, a good Evangelical guy. You know, tip a few Lone Stars or Buds, talk sports and tell a few war stories. Far from it. This guy was the front man and we got a whole package that had goals far from what people thought. He and his handlers and henchmen took doublespeak to a whole new level, but I'm not convinced he wasn't very much a puppet. He was like a child allowed to run loose in a store, irresponsible and destructive, as he had been all of his life. Now, folks, ask Pastor John or your best friend why he told you to vote for the man. If you did, ask yourself why.

NEOCONS

Hunter Thompson had their measure in his obituary for Nixon. Substitute Neocon for Nixon below and Hunter Thompson's words are as valid today as when written.

"Let there be no mistake in the history books about that. Richard Nixon was an e. v. il man--e. v. il in a way that only those who believe in the physical reality of the D. ev. il can understand it. He was utterly without ethics or morals or any bedrock sense of decency."

"(The badger (Nixon)) is a be. ast that fi. gh. ts best on its back: rolling under the thr. oat of the en. emy and seizing it by the head with all four cla. ws.

That was Nixon's style--and if you forgot, he would k. i. ll you as a lesson to the others. Badgers don't fi. ght fair, bubba. That's why God made dachshunds."

With the Neocons it is NEVER over until the final bell and probably not then either. See above. Only a fool believes that ANY rules will be observed. Realise that the Neocons are Nixon's sp. a. wn - that was where Che. ney, Ru. ms. feld and others learned their skul. dug. gery.

OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE - WE WERE SUNK IN E. V. IL AND KNEW IT

"My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is (nearly) over." - Gerald Ford inauguration speech after Nixon's resignation.

They say that consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.

One thing for sure about President Pan his foreign policy has been consistent (consistently bad).

I guess there's an implication there about his mind.
