Israeli TV caught on film the pleas of a Palestinian doctor whose children had just been killed by Israeli attacks, reports Reuters.

The telephone calls created extraordinary scenes during evening news broadcasts as the doctor, a Hebrew-speaking physician who spoke regularly on Israeli television, said three of his children were killed in a tank strike and others were wounded.

"My girls were sitting at home planning their futures, talking, then suddenly they are being shelled," he said in a voice shaking with emotion. "I want to know why they were killed, who gave the order?"

Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports that the Channel 10 correspondent who was interviewing the doctor, Izz el-Deen Aboul Aish, had held the microphone to his cell phone to capture the doctor's pleas. It reports that three of the doctor's eight children died in the attack.

'I hope anyone who can hear us, the military, the red cross, can get there,' the emotional reporter, Shlomi Eldar said, announcing the exact location of the doctor's home, hoping help would arrive quickly.

Eldar then went off-camera to call his numerous contacts in Israel and try and get the family assistance.

It takes a lot to make me cry these days, but I am not ashamed that I wept upon reading this story. Dr Izz el-Deen Aboul Aish was a single father who lost his wife to cancer and to lose his three daughters to an Israeli bomb is a horror I can no even pretend to imagine. Hundreds of other civilians were also killed and I'm sure they had fathers, mothers, brothers, friends and other relatives who weep now and mourn their loss. Israel government members responsible for these a t r oc i t i e s need to be held accountable.

One hundred times the loss on the Palestinian side. When will Israel realize it is destroying itself when it massacres the people of Palestine?

Below is the LA Times article about it which gives you the Youtube link to watch the actual broadcast on IsraeliTv with English subtitles - its truly one of the most horrifying things I have ever heard as the Arab father in Gaza is live on TV and the IDF missile strikes killing his 3 daughters with him and we hear the father's cry for the loss of his children. There are no words strong enough to condemn the actions of Israel in this war.

I am generally a very strong supporter of Israel, but in this situation, the slaughter is just wrong, and even the most ardent supporter of this country must feel ashamed of this action.

In the past 6 years Hamas rockets shelled Israel regularly, but only killed 4 people. Why? They targeted crops. Why? Because their own people were starving due to Israel's embargo.

Was Hamas wrong then? Yes.
Is Israel wrong now? Yes.

An eye for an eye makes everyone blind.
A bomb for a bomb makes everyone dead.

This is more like an eye and a leg and an arm for an eye. Just an incredibly disproportionate response by Israel. They have to get all the killing they can in now before their puppets Bush and Rice walk away.

No, they did not "targeted crops" - where did you get that idea? Hamas rockets have hit schools, homes, etc + "crops". Why more Israeli people are not killed is because there are siren warnings and bomb shelters.

What is Hamas gaining with these rockets? I think things would be better if they did not smuggle weapons and shoot rockets.

Am I horrified at the death and destruction in Gaza? Yes, I am. deeply.

Sad. What's not mentioned here and is relevant is the fact that the Palestinian works in an Israeli hospital, and his relatives were taken there for treatment. Most Israelis are not blind to the sufferring of the other side, but are simply terrified after years of suicide bombings and rocket attacks.

Every story on this site seems to be about fighting somewhere, mostly in the middle east.
Get out of the middle east now! Stop taking side with Israel, and leave all of them and Africa to it!
Let them all wipe each other out. Bring back the electric car, then we will not need the middle east for anything!
I am so done with all this fighting. Time for peace!

Well imagine how the Palestinians feel if you are "done with this fighting".

That's no peace. Have some compassion. There are people who live in pain, who watch their children die daily, who die themselves. Of course, you have no obligation to care or help. But as a human being, I hope that you have the inclination and the humanity. You are right that we shouldn't take sides, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to help at all. Even in these moments that it takes to write a comment, you can stop to have compassion, no matter if you are unable to help in any other way. Not caring for others' lives and well-being is a big reason the world is in the mess it is. So, take a few seconds to think kindly and you will already have made it a better place.

A recent poll in Israel showed that the vast majority of Israelis approved of the war on Gaza.
