Hollywood heavyweights made their pledges to Barack Obama in the video below. Directed and edited by Demi Moore, it features celebrity pledges by Cameron Diaz, Hayden Panetierre, Laura Linney, Dakota Fanning, Jaime Pressley, Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Richie, Ashton Kutcher, Tobey Maguire, Diddy, Alyssa Milano, Marisa Tomei, Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette, and others.

From MySpace Celebrity:

Reflecting Barack's call for change, the film features over 50 of the biggest stars in Hollywood revealing how they plan to personally participate in keeping America strong, proud and green. The clip will be presented to our new President during his inaugural celebration.

"There's an assumption that this one man is going to take on his new job full-time and somehow wave a magic wand of change, and I don't believe that to be true," Ashton tells Reuters. "I think that we have to be the leaders, and that's not celebrities--I think that we as citizens have to be leaders of the movement that we want to create."

As I recall, George Bush didn't call the country to do anything of service. He said everything was fine. We should go and spend money. Everything was fine. He didn't need help. I have helped my fellow man, without Hollywood telling me to. It is something in my heart, not my tv. I have been inspired by this president, so I want to do more. That is all there is to it. No mystery....no politics.......nothing to do with Hollywood. It has to do with my soul.

Soul? Sounds suspiciously religious.

How does evolution jive with "soul?"

I'm glad they did this! This is the first president in my lifetime that inspires me, and I hear them saying the same thing.

Glad we finally have a "leader."

I am very interested to see what you mean by leader...yes he has been a president for one day, but hasn't really lead anything yet...please don't get me wrong, I didn't vote for the guy but am willing to give him a chance as he proves himself. It's hard to sit back and watch everyone idolize a man who hasn't really done anything yet., just my thoughts.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves. You will "pledge to be a servant to your president" and all mankind? How blessed we are that because you have found someone who will bow down to your Hollywood political propaganda, you are now willing to help out, to make a differece, to ask others to make a difference. Helping mankind, your brother, your neighbor is something you should be doing whether or not your president is someone you like. Bush could have used your help too, so could have Clinton, and Reagan. Where were you then? What a pityful lot! Give from your heart because it's the right thing to do, not becauyse you want to push forth your political agenda.

Sounds like you're a little angry. Sorry, can't help that. You should be happy that America wants to come together in these horrible times. Whose political agenda is it that would want Americans to be cynical and angry vs helpful and hopeful? You obviously watched the pledge. Why? I'm hearing some "talking points" here. Your candidate obviously lost. We have a new President and the country is in trouble. Our President inspires people and includes all people. That's the draw. It now feels like everyone's America. I hope you have a good day. It's a new day!

Not angry about Obama, it is what it is. I pray him for him as our President, that he does well. Not angry as disappointed. You can't really look at these people and be proud. Until a few days ago, this was a non-issue to them. They should help because it's the right thing to do. No one should have to ask you to help your neighbor if they are in need. That is the point I was trying to make. And I will gracefully disagree with you, they say in the pledge that "one man can't do it alone" yet the tone in these messages is that Bush alone ruined our country. It's just party lines and people's opinions. I hope you have a better day.

Are you serious? Are you saying that this country, the children of this country, the slaves, the trees, the environment, the education system...oh the list could go on...it wasn't WORTH your PLEDGE when President Bush was president, but that suddenly, because Barak Obama is president suddenly all of these have worth and you will step up to the plate? Are you saying that you will only DO something positive if all the planets are aligned? I can only imagine how embarrassed you must feel that you allowed all of these things to go unfulfilled during these last 8 years. (Beyond actually!) I must say I am not all that surprised. I KNEW you were holding back, dragging down, and spewing shall I say...flushing the USA down the same way you would your #2.
Don't hold back. Git Er Done!

My favorite was Michael Strahan. Now there were some healing words. An American. God Bless him.

I don't care who puts the idea out there. These "people" are trying to get the world in a more positive mind set than the last eight years of negative hell we have been in. I pledge to be more positive, even when Complete idiocy surrounds me.I pledge to be a more positive source in the world. That is all they were saying. Try.....listen again. You might feel better.

"the last eight years of negative hell we have been in." Has been propagated by the liberal media and democrats, who mocked and taunted his administration every chance they got. Obama won the popular vote by a very slim margin less then 53%. That means 47% did not want him as president. I don't think your going to get the "lets all get along" nirvana you expect. The idiocy that surrounds you has also come from the democratic party that supports and supported banking industries that were bound to fail because they were giving loans to people who couldn't afford them. This idiocy is big government and now it is just going to get bigger, Americans are not smart enough to run businesses we the government to do that too. Now that's idiocy. By the way you want to be more positive, why don't you start by using your really name.

These people had the opportunity to send out an informational message instead of patting themselves on the back like this.

I'm sure the people working 2 or 3 jobs or those who have lost their job or home will be inspired to WORK HARDER while being comforted be the fact that Demi Moore intends to smile more and free the slaves.

There's nothing like a positive message to bring out the obnoxious trolls on this site, eh?

I think this is great--yeah, it's very Hollywoody, but the message is right on.

Effective policy does require that citizens participate in the solutions to our problems rather than passively waiting around for the work to get done. As citizens of a democracy, however, we are not "servants" to the president; rather, our leaders are servants to the people. We need to avoid hero worship and keep in mind that the people are always sovereign.

Seems you'll do what you can to make that happen. Luckily for you, the rest of us will pull your slack and you'll reap the benefits anyway. However, we'll have been part of the solution while you did all you could to be part of the problem.

Proud
I don't need to pledge. I for one do my volenteering for one reason and one reason only, because its the right thing to do and no one had to take me by the hand and lead. Those celebs are doing it for one reason because they look good to the public. It all means nothing if they don't prove what they annouced and I don't think they will follow up on it, so it ends up as lipservice and to me thats not helping. If they would have kept their mouth shut and did something then they would feel better and the media would have found them ,as it is now they have to call the media so that they know they're putting their money where their bragadicio mouths are.

Unless I missed it (I'm not going to watch it again), there's a glaring omission.

No pledges to help the troops.

No pledges to perform on USO trips, something they are uniquely qualified for. No help for the wounded warriors or aid to their families. No care packages for our people overseas.

There are scores of worthy groups that help our troops and their families. They couldn't help out with one?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:29 PM on 01/20/2009

There's already gazillions of support groups pledging support for the troops. Is there some new kind of political correctness requiring a kowtow to the troops anytime someone talks about anything anywhere?

These people need to go away and let the politicians have their day in the light. My God. They must pledge to take a pay cut to somewhat less than the writers. They should celebrate if the wish but why do they we let them think that we are interested in their views.
