I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Not long after assuming the presidency, Obama is expected to grant a waiver allowing California and more than a dozen other states to enforce their own greenhouse-gas emission standards on autos.

That would completely change the landscape for vehicle regulation and obligate automakers to produce cars that are far more efficient than those called for under current federal standards -- an average of 3 miles per gallon more by 2015, and 7 mpg more by 2020, according to some calculations.

So much pollution is nothing more than the result of the capitalist impulse to get someone else to pay for the cost of production, as well as the gross inefficiency of the product. Nowhere is that more obvious than in the US automobile industry. And it has been that way, with pride, for decades now. Now that the industry is getting taxpayer money, their squealing had better be just the sound of overgrown manipulators being stopped in their tracks. Necessity has a way of focusing the mind. Get to work boys, for a change.

We, the taxpayers, lent the auto industry money to fix their dismal policy of failure. We own part of the indsutry and as a shareholder I just want to say, "Shut up! Quit whining! Start thinking about solutions, not problems and FIX IT!"

This was yet another hypocrisy of the GOP that bugged me. They whine all the time about "states' rights" when it comes to abortion and other things... but when it was CA wanting to do something about emissions... oh know... can't have that.

If we are going to kill off the auto companies with this bogus legislation why are we bailing them out?

Because it is not going to kill them. They just whine about it like about any piece of legislation that has "car" written on it. Safety belts? They would kill the car industry they said. Airbags? They would kill the car industry, they said. Safety standards? They would kill the car industry, they sang. Efficiency standards? For sure they will kill the car industry, they were sure about that.

And you still believe them?

The US automobile industry is such a bunch of losers and whiners. Every time they face regulation they whine that it will kill them. Well, guess what, guys, we gave you all you asked for and more for thirty years and you are still dead in the water. Let's see if you won't do better with some adult supervision. Because, honestly, I can not tell the difference between you and a three year old who is throwing a fit.

Why do you keep trolling every single car-related post with your dreck?

Because people like you need to hear it over and over again until reality sinks in. And if I can get you upset, maybe I can get you to actually think about it for a second. And if you think about it for just a second, maybe you will think about it again, maybe even longer. And if that should occur, there is a chance that you will find that what I am saying makes sense. And that, my friend, is a chance I am willing to take.

:-)
