I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Legoland California swore in its Lego Obama last Friday and will recreate the historic inauguration through Memorial Day.

The LA Times has the story:

President-elect Obama and his family along with Vice President-elect Joseph Biden and his wife will be replicated as mini-figures in Lego bricks.

Invited dignitaries include Lego versions of President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Lynne Cheney, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

ITN has video of the miniature ceremony.

Had I known in advance, I would have made and sent over 1,000 Lego shoes.

I don't know if the chubby Lego figure in the light blue dress was supposed to be Aretha or Oprah, but it sure made me laugh!

WOW! I love Legos, and wish they'd sale brown skinned Lego people or brown legos like in the picture above. I always had to use my imagination, but it would be cool to have Lego people at home in different hues.

What's funnier, Topfeeder.... Is it really Aretha Franklin or is it Oprah? The voiceover mentions both of them! Who can be sure? They are both real big, made of brown lego pieces and in a blue dress.

How appropriate to have a hollow plastic representation of what is quickly becoming a hollow plastic, disingenuous presidency. The man is not even sworn in yet, and he has alienated a large majority of his LGBT supporters, myself included, by not making sure that the Presidential Inaugural Committee and HBO were on the same page when it came to airing Bishop Gene Robinson's prayer at the Obamastock celebration yesterday.

This does not bode well for opening the civil rights that Obama seems to be inextricably linked with.

That's a pretty pathetic thing to begin calling someone disingenuous over... Honestly, it's almost as though the progressive movement feeds on anger, not idealism; on fear, not 'hope.' It seems to me that we on the left have always got to have a target, someone to lambaste and criticize, someone to cast as the oppressor of our virgin liberal souls... Honestly, let's grow up and understand that whatever broadcasting decisions HBO made were independent of any made (or not made) by the Presidential Inaugural Committee and the man who, in twelve hours, will be our president.

So.. elsewhere you talk about being an atheist.. but you are upset that a gay minister got accidentally cut out of an HBO broadcast? Please.... What a weak kneeed atheist you are. You want to argue perceived symbolism over potential policy? Fine go off in the corner over there and continue to let the media manipulate your emotions for their profit. When you have a handle on the ballance between emtion and though come back to the adult table and stop sniveling.

Oops...1977. What a great historian I am. Keep me away from the Legos.

Cute, but they have the ceremony on the East Front of the Capitol. The last time it was held there was in 1976, The ceremony takes place on the West Front.

That flaw aside, what a great piece of work!

Can't imagine a finer job than to build lego and get paid for it.
