I Like ItI Don’t Like It

WASHINGTON--Not on any schedule, the Obamas hosted an exclusive late night gathering at the White House after coming home from dancing at ten balls, I'm told.

The fete was intended for very close Obama friends and family. The event was scheduled between midnight and 2:30 a.m. and invitees were told the Obamas' may not show. But they did. Michelle, cut out early; Obama stayed. There was a champagne toast.

I love reading Huffpost. One gets to read just how stupid the American public is. Truly amazing to read these posts. Amazing!

What observation is your post based on? Is it because the Obama's know Oprah? Don't they live in the same city? Aren't they both high profile? Seems kind of natural to me.

Oprah can do no wrong in my eyes - after starting the schools in Africa and bringing Christmas to 50,000 South African children.

Oprah is a Goddess - religious people can have their make believe god, I'll take someone real like Oprah.

Isis, Bastet, Oprah, Hathor, Ma'at, etc.

No the coverage is great. See we have had an unwelcome and unliked president for too long. Even Clinton while liked never reached a hugely popular status among the young. Here is a president that is young, healthy, vibrant, and just plain cool. Very genuine people are hard to come by, mix in a natural leadership ability and you have the making of a person that can change the world if they were given the opportunity.. Well heres the opportunity, he is now the single most powerful person in the world but remembers his roots. We are in for a sweet ride, may be tough at first but sweet all the same.

Dear God...

Anyone else sick of Oprah, Gayle and all this celeb coverage? They are the least interesting part of this historical event and yet every time I turn a page, a channel or clink onto a webpage I am assaulted with more "fascinating" and "stimulating" celebrity reaction. What Shakira, Beyonce and P. Diddy think is of monumental importance, obviously.

What a sad age we live in when it comes to covering Hollywood. Some perspective please.

The saddest part of it all is that people actually vote based on what these people think. I for one live in the real world but I would not want someone to take my word for gospel. Do your homework people!

Who cares at this point. I voted for energy independence and to battle Peak Oil, you voted for the environment, my neighbor voted for security and the economy. We each have our reasons but it should be plain and clear that having a huge status among the worlds population means more then the number of stories on blogs going up, he increases political capital with other leaders whos populations love the Obamas. This is Great for America.

Obama's from Chicago. Oprah's from Chicago. Roland Burris is from Illinois. Where was their leadership in influencing such a corrupt city/state? Did they address that issue?

Illinois politics was corrupt long before Obama or Oprah moved to Chicago. Try again, and next time use logic.

We could say the same thing about McCain's influence to stop Arizona's corruption, Palin's big mouth, or his wife from popping pills. I hate doing that, because I actually like McCain. Just because people live in the same state and they are the same race doesn't mean they are just alike. That's very stereotypical.

She's important because he would have lost the Democratic primary had she not endorsed him. Oprah's endorsement in the primary was worth over one million votes:

Oprah can be SO exhausting at times. I can not bear it. Yes Oprah is powerful but in the media only. She does not have the power to start wars orraise or lower the interest rates. SHe is a great woman and I am proud of her accomplishments. She is annoying.

They were pretty much eradicated from their homeland....

Do they deserve any respect??????

Last state to give them the vote was Utah 1954.....Anything?????????

Can a Native American achieve Oprah status?
Can a Native American achieve Obama status?
After the middle passage and slavery, to overcoming all of those obstacles is a big deal.
If African Americans can do it, Native Americans can do it as well.
So I say Native Americans get to work to become the next President!!!!!

Oprah visited Native American reservations on her road trip with Gayle. Oprah loves Native Americans because she's part Native America herself. DNA test proved it.

The hate, envy and bitterness on all Oprah threads is comical.

Some of you are leading some miserable lives. Hatin on Oprah probably makes you feel better for a brief period of time.

Sad.

Uhhh, nooo.

Maybe Miss O helped introduce YOU to Obama. But it took a whole lot of work from a whole lot of people (not the least of which was the candidate himself), to get him there. Everyone's life doesn't rise and fall on what "Oprah said . . . "

Don't get me wrong . . . her support was very much appreciated (hence her invitation to the event); but Madame Secretary's 3rd place finish is not due to Oprah.

But . . . let's not rehash or fight about THAT . . . ! Let's just stop hatin'.

She got him over a MILLION votes in the Democratic primary. He only won by less than half a million. She decided the election:

Oprah only introduced Obama to the country. When she said "he is the most honest politician I know and if he wants to run for president I will do everything in my power to get him elected" and she did. He was my senator but I had never ever heard too much about him. I did vote for him in the state though.
