I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The Bush twins wrote a letter to Sasha and Malia Obama, with their advice for how to handle life in the White House. "Today" asked if they would read the letter to viewers -- and they agreed. Watch:

Barbara and Jenna Bush advised the girls to "go to anything and everything you possibly can ... Just go. Four years goes by so fast, so absorb it all, enjoy it all!"

They advised the girls to surround themselves with loyal friends, cherish their pets, go to T-ball games, have swimming parties, and generally "have fun and enjoy your childhood in such a magical place to live and play."

Children are not responsible for the mistakes of their parents. They also love their parents unconditionally. These girls see their father as their father, not as President, as will Obama's children. Regardless of what he does, he will always be 'dad' to them.

Parents are judged by their children on the relationship they have with them, the love they are shown and normal family life, not on what they do in the outside world.

That's exactly right.

As PR stunts go, this was a rather nice one. The Bush twins did come up with some useful advice. I hope and expect that Sasha and Malia Obama will make the most of the next four years.

As far as getting the country to see Bush 43 as just another nice dad ... that bit may not fly so well ...

What's with the "four years go by so fast" comment? Couldn't the twins - with all the coaching that went along with this letter - have said something innocuous like "time goes by too fast"?

Look, my dad is my dad, but I've been realistic about his shortcomings since I was 8. Non stop excuses are unhealthy and delusional. But they're Bushes - what else do you expect?

This was a generous and classy thing for the Bush daughters to do. I am no less incensed by the Bush presidency than the rest of you, but geeze, there are hundreds of places to on huffpo to express those thoughts. Frankly you look pretty silly and shallow foaming at the mouth on this one.

i could not have said it better myself!

I could see the twins sending the Obama girls a private letter. An open letter is nothing more than a headline grab by two adult women.

Exactly, this should have been private.

I am no fan of Bush and both Barbara & Jenna did some things that weren't really cool (well, maybe they thought it was at the time); but when you are talking about your Dad, you don't see all the stuff they did - it is your DAD. This is the person who read to them, and taught them how to ride a bike, throw a ball - why would you assume that they would think he was anything but how he seemed to them?
Was it a PR stunt? Who knows. Sometimes, you just need to accept things at face value and let it go. We don't live in their homes and we don't live their lives. At some point, you have to let go of the anger and get on with your lives.
I think it was a nice gesture, stunt or not and it was nice seeing the shots of them as little girls.

"Our dad, like yours, is a man of great integrity and love...."

Unbelievable cynicism and pure delusion. Their dad is man of violence, hatred and deception. He nearly destroyed our country, our Constitution, and the rule of law. Where is the integrity and love in that?

This is pure PR image manipulation. He came in as a "compassionate conservative," and now they're trying to send him off in the same phony rapper. It's a dirty trick.

The Bush girls are not guilty that their dad, unqualified for any serious job, was made a president by bunch of crooks. But being now grown up they could make more effort to observe and think.
It also seems to me that in Obama family entertainment is not a top priority for girls, and Obama girls will not actually go everywhere and have non-stop fun.

Dear Obama Girls,
Our Dear Father was puppeteered by one of the greatest and most traitorous cabals in US history.
We enjoyed watching his strings being pulled tight, as hundreds of Americans jumped from the burning towers....................

Isn't the inheritance they got from their dads 8 years of pillage enough for them. They have to try and grab the spotlight.

Leave the stage, girls, leave the stage. THE PARTY IS OVER!

For the ones who say this is a stunt, learn the whole story before you go judging. They did give the letter to Sasha and Malia. The TODAY show asked Barbara and Jenna to read it on the air. The letter was already given to the girls before they did this.

exactly! these people don't want to hear that though. these letters of anger and rage over something that is simply very sincere and beautiful can only give you insight to who it is writing these. they are desperately grabbing for something to lash out at to fill an inner emptiness.

Sorry twins, but you can't rewrite history on your dad, by "reading a letter that should be private, publicly".

Dang, those Republicans just can't go away quietly.

They twins can't leave the stage, huh?
They are just showboating, otherwise they would have given the Obama girls this letter privately.
