Feds Raid Contractor With Ties To Pennsylvania Democrat

Federal agents on Thursday raided the offices of a Pennsylvania government contractor with close ties to Rep. John P. Murtha, chairman of the powerful Defense panel on the House Appropriations Committee.

Agents from the FBI, IRS and Defense Criminal Investigative Service searched the offices of Kuchera Industries and Kuchera Defense Systems in three different locations in Pennsylvania.

Mayor Tom Murphy - Democrat
Mayor Bob O'Connor - Democrat
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl - Democrat
County Coroner Dr. Cyril H. Wecht - Democrat
Sherriff Pete DeFazio - Democrat
John Murtha - Democrat

To date, no Republican politicians have been investigated or indicted. There were allegations warranting review against Senator Rick Santorum and Representative Scott Habig, but Buchanan's office choice not to pursue.

This investigation is headed up by U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan. She is known for politically motivated prosecutions against Democrats such as Cyril Wecht, Mayor Tom Murphy, Sherrif Pete DeFazio. In a recent letter/press statement, Buchanan argued she should stay on as U.S. Attorney because she was involved in prosecutions, questionable ones, against Democrats. The fact this investigation was leaked to newspapers and other media sources by Buchanan's team only demonstrates that this case may very well be abuse of power by U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.

Everything Republicans do is politically motivated, but that does not mean that nothing wrong was done. There are the tapes from many years back. Being a politician should no longer be about job security.

Please, the argument is that Murtha sold his soul for $65,000 in donations. Give me a break. Murtha steered government contracts to his district to get jobs. If this action is going to be a crime, we should start building bigger jails.

Also, I agree with you that corruption runs both ways; however I think the U.S. Attorneys' Office could have made a better case if they chose to use any other prosecutor besides Mary Beth Buchanan to lead the charge. She is currently attempting to retry a case against Dr. Cyril H. Wecht for allegations that he used a county fax machine paid for tax payers to send out a little under ten personal bills that had errors on them amounting to less than $1,000. Yes, Buchanan is out there spending millions of our money to go after someone for using a fax machine.
