Palin's $180,000 Campaign Clothes "Stuffed In Trash Bags" At RNC Headquarters: NewMajority (VIDEO, SLIDESHOW)

NewMajority has a report today that Sarah Palin's infamous wardrobe has not been given to charity as promised by the McCain campaign after the amazing bill was revealed in October.
McCain even told the press that "one-third of the clothing was "given back."

But for reasons that remain mysterious, the clothes remain stashed at the RNC's Washington, D.C., headquarters. A source close to the issue told NewMajority that the clothes are "in the process" of being donated, and an RNC spokesman corroborated, saying the clothes have indeed been returned from Palin, "inventoried and will be appropriately dispersed to various charities." Attempts for an explanation of when and where the clothes will be donated went unanswered, and the governor's Alaska office does not comment on campaign issues.

The fact that the clothes have not been donated or publicly accounted for, however, has angered some big donors - who want to know exactly how their money was spent, and who are already enraged by the extravagant wardrobe figure. They say it's time for the RNC to air its dirty laundry, if you will.

Read more from Moira Bagley's NewMajority report here.

Huffington Post's Sam Stein reported
on how the spending on Palin had infuriated Republicans back in October.

Indeed, the story could not come at a more inopportune time for the McCain campaign. During a week in which the Republican ticket is trying to highlight its connection to the working class -- and, by extension, promoting its newest campaign tool, Joe the Plumber -- it was revealed that Palin's fashion budget for several weeks was more than four times the median salary of an American plumber ($37,514). To put it another way: Palin received more valuable clothes in one month than the average American household spends on clothes in 80 years. A Democrat put it in even blunter terms: her clothes were the cost of health care for 15 or so people.

Palin commented on the wardrobe scandal when criticism was reaching a fever pitch... 'you'd think I wouldn't have to address this issue':

Someone mentioned this article on another thread and I had to pass it along: “Quotable: Sarah Palin's Top 10 Bloopers” on http://politicalnewsconnection.com/ (scroll down to their Links section, then look under Comic Relief). If you want a good laugh, this is for you.

Why are Republicans so corrupt? Are they born that way? They must be because there is no rational explanation for this kind of corruption.
09:09 AM on 01/27/2009
You can bet that the next Republican candidate will be contingent on whether she (or he) can wear Sarah's discarded clothing.

This is their ONLY requirement.

How much did Michelle pay for hers? Anybody? Would you pay that much for a dress? Do you think she paid that much for the dress? Let's be fair now and let's drop the issue. This is why none of us are sitting in those positions.

I agree. This is ridiculous. Who cares. If you wanna bring up this issue, then you'd have to bring up the issue of the cost of Obama's inauguration. I am an Obama supporter, always have been, but even I thought this issue was kind of ridiculous.

Same here. I can't stand Sarah Palin as a politician, but I really do think the cost of her wardrobe is a non-issue. Even if it was something to note during the campaign, why on earth are HuffPo still going on about it now, almost three months later?? As much as I love Michelle Obama's style, I wouldnt mind betting her wardrobe during the campaign was more than Palin's.

Move ON, already.

Who do you donate this stuff to? Soon we may see homeless women walking the streets in Chanel suits carrying Louis Vitton bags. Only in America!

Now I see why they gave her a clothing allowance. That outfit she has on in the supermarket photo has to be the UGLIEST dress I've ever seen.
02:27 AM on 01/27/2009
Watch it.
That "outfit" is a kuspuk. It's a traditional Native item of clothing, worn by Yupik and Inupiat men and women. Don't dis a couple of indigenous cultures just because you disapprove of Sarah Palin.

Not sure what the point of keeping this story going is.

Sarah Palin is yesterdays news. She brought down John McCain's political career and went back home. Giving her more attention just cheapens that the people spoke and were over cute gimmicks and silly side-shows.

Let her keep the clothes. Who cares? If the donors to the Republican Party don't want them back, why should WE even get a vote? It wasn't our money.

Are we honestly still talking about Sarah Palin's wardrobe budget? Why in the world did we begin to talking about it in the first place? Honestly, if she had worn the same forty dollar suit to every even she went to, people would have gone on about her clothing then too. Ever heard the phrase "damned if you do, damned if you don't"?

But since we apparently can't let it go, I'll say this much about it. It's not that hard to give clothing to charity, it was said that's what was to be done with the clothing, so someone just needs to shut up and do it. And I personally don't want to hear a breaking news story about it even if it's never done. Just let it go.

I have no love for this woman but I think people have to really start letting this go.

All those cold Alaskans, and only Todd got silk boxers.
06:12 PM on 01/26/2009
For Goodness sake, let her keep the damn clothes.
05:24 PM on 01/26/2009
Who cares. It was a ridiculous issue to begin with.

Obama blew millions on an overblown inauguration, Palin blew $100k too much on clothes.

Nobody asked what Obama, Michelle, John or Cyndi spent.

Who cares if it goes to charity. It was paid for by donation. Auction it off. The press is embarrassing itself.
03:11 PM on 01/27/2009
that is because they bought their OWN clothes, they didn't use donated money to purchase them.

It is against the FEC rules to use money for personal items.\
04:29 PM on 01/26/2009
If this is just secondhand news, what is the firsthand news re: the clothes? Where are they?
04:28 PM on 01/26/2009
Who is this Sara Palin?
09:10 PM on 01/26/2009
Smartest comment yet. Let it drop, let it die, let the whole Palin family live and be well far away from the rest of us. She is not relevant to today's America.
