Miss America : Sarah Palin Question Asked Of Miss New York (VIDEO)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/24/09 05:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:00 PM ET

During the question and answer section of the 2009 Miss America Pageant, held tonight, Miss New York was asked a question about former beauty queen, and Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin. The question was: "In Governor Sarah Palin's campaign for vice president, the media made an issue of her having been a Miss America contestant. Is that fair?"** Miss New York did not, in fact, find it fair. Watch her full answer below.

**Readers have pointed out that the question is a bit erroneous in that while Palin is a former beauty queen and competed for the title of Miss Alaska, she never actually was a contestant for Miss America.

How nice that there is a television network -- Fox Cable News -- that hires all the dim bulb beauty contestants.

What are they trying to do? Encourage future dim-bulb politicians?

Miss Washington, Janet Harding, was quickly disqualified after it was discovered she was a shaved Sasquatch!

sorry sweetie, it's about hotties...if it was about intelligence we wouldn't have the swimsuit portion of the contest.

If anything, she received preferential treatment for being pretty-ish. I mean, it's the only reason she was selected by the McCain camp in the first place. And it's the reason why she got so much media attention.

Seriously? Regardless, it's pretty embarrassing. So what does someone do to poor Sarah? They try to get her to run for president in 2011.

Actually this is pretty funny: http://www.cafepress.com/Palin2011

Ha! ROFLMAO! So, does that mean if Obama 'flops,' then we can start an "Impeach Obama" campaign? So far, I think Obama is facing the music well.

BTW, why do some politicians keep whining about "Tax cuts will do more than a stimulus plan?" Okay, let me clarify something: FIRST, you need a 'job,' before your taxes can be collected OR cut, so... if this stimulus package does create about 4 million jobs, then hey, there's more to tax.

But, at the same time, tax cuts also should be a good indirect stimulus to the economy. Lower taxes = more people possibly saving, investing and buying. It's just that such cuts generally seem slower at impacting the economy vs. direct stimulus (no, not a "stimulus check," I mean "job creation.")

these are the same people who handed us the current financial disaster based on their "tax cut" mantra.

maybe they forgot to mention the cuts were for the wealthy only...trickle down trickle down trickle down

what's the matter? it's not working, you say? And yet, they keep demanding we do things their way.

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES, REPUBLICANS. AND THIS IS ONE REASON WHY WE VOTED YOU OUT.

Once and for all - Mrs Palin was second runner-up to Miss Alaska; the population of Alaska was 572,000 at that time, the lowest of any State.

The media did not make an issue of Sarah Palin being a beauty queen contestant.

It did come up as something in her background, and if she is running for VP, then everything in her background should be fair game for scrutiny and analysis.

And while Miss New York is being politically correct here, certainly the public perception is that Miss America is not a scholarship competition, but a beauty pageant. She sort of skipped around the question posed to her -- much like a good politician -- and certainly better than Sarah Palin would have done.

Umm... actually, they 'did' make an issue of it, but... all's fair in Politics and Religion.
Why should it matter? The whole issue was brought up numerous times, regarding "Should a beauty queen be vice-president?" and... I repeat: why should it matter - YES, it's fair to conjecture - that's what this country is all about. You are right: 'everything' is fair game, when such lofty positions are at stake.

And really, don't most 'beauty queens' have excellent poise, mannerisms, and speaking abilities? Okay, well ... 'some' of them have those traits. ;-)

And I still have to wonder if both Sarah Palin and John McCain had just kept as quiet as possible and basically said, "No comment;" or... "I don't know, I'll have to research that further, in order to give you an intelligent answer;" then they might have won the contest... the Presidency, not the Miss America thing. ;-)

Think about it: She simply 'opened her mouth' and gave deer-in-headlight answers, when she should have simply remained silent and cautious.
