I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich continued his television campaign proclaiming his innocence on "The View" Monday and ended up getting his hair tousled by cohost Joy Behar.

Read a live-blog of Blago's complete appearance HERE.

After a segment of Barbara Walters, via satellite, questioning Blago one-on-one, the panel came back. Most of the interview consisted of the Governor complaining that the Illinois impeachment trial won't allow him to bring witnesses who would prove his innocence.

At the end, Behar got upset that their time was over and asked him to do his Nixon impression, which she has heard is great. Caught off guard, Blago laughed but repeatedly refused, and earned a head rub from Behar.

This might have seen as a "funny" moment to many viewers, but in my opinion it was disrespectful, quite distasteful, ignorant, and low class, etc... Don't get me wrong, i do not like Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and i LOVE watching the View; but it was Joy Behar who appears to forget that the man she's sitting right next to STILL is a Governor (corrupt one or not, but still), yawk, so low class!

Blagojevich is fun to have around for his comedic value alone. Invoking Mother Theresa, comparing himself to MLK and Gandhi... hilarious!

Illinois must really appreciate a good joke. They voted for him.

He didn't actually compare himself to them. You should step back from the media and read for yourself. They are "shaping" our opinions. You're actually allowed to learn on your own and form an opinion, not have someone give you theirs.

The fact that in his situation, those people even popped into his mind is pretty telling.

Illinois was hamstrung. They had no viable gubernatorial candidates in either party, so rather than not voting at all, they chose the party with which they most closely identified. I've seen more than one poster saying that they "held their noses and voted" for Blago.

I love Joy but it was unprofessional for her to do that. He is in the fight of his life and she is playing in his hair. She didn't do that to Billo or McCain but she did that to another Dem. To make matters worse, she kept asking him to do his impression of Nixon. I was yelling at the tv, "Don't do it! They'll only loop it on tv for the next week." I was glad he didn't fall into that trap. Joy should be ashamed of herself. That man has small kids and fighting against those crooks in the state legislature. He should have told her to keep her hands to herself. WTF?

Blago is a freak show. The entire nation heard him try to sell the Senate seat. It's wasn't subtle. Its wasn't ambiguous.

I'd like to hear a psychological profile of this guy cuz he's just not right in the head.

Does he really think he's swaying Illinois Senator opinions (other than negatively)? Does he really think the people of Illinois are going to rise up and demand that the senate aquit him because he showed up on The View?

Thank you! That's what I said! The media has made "Rockwell" think he heard the man on tape. So who is the cuckoo? I never heard it, and neither has the State Legislature, which is Blago's point.

How can they demand he step down based solely on the word of the AG who hasn't given them ANY evidence? The right way to do it would be to impeach him AFTER he is found guilty, and not until and definitely not before.

Due process - not rush to judgment. There was a Seinfeld episode where Jerry and George had finally convinced a reporter that they were not a gay couple (not that there's anything wrong with that). Not realizing that the second phone line was still open, they jokingly said "I guess we fooled her." Context is everything. Blagojevich wants all the recordings heard. Admittedly, I find that an interesting position for a guilty person -- usually it's erasing tapes and paper shredding. Give him the chance to clear his name. If he fails, hang him.

The nation DID NOT hear him say anything. We only heard the Attorney General say it, and that doesn't count. All of this is over hearsay, and the media has just ran with it, and so have you.

People should be presumed innocent in this country and not railroaded through the media. They are not treating him fairly and it's shameful.

And by the way, I am an Illiniois citizen and I think they are treating him unfairly. It's not about whether I think he's a good Governor or if I like him or not, but it's about our American values, and the State Legislature is showing NONE in this case.

If they can do this to him, what could they do to an average citizen?

Need we point out that bringing disrepute to the State of Illinois is plenty of cause for impeachment and removal from office, quite apart from criminal complaints.

Being impeached is more like having a firing hearing than a court case, something that Blago has attempted to confuse. Like firing, you do not have to be convicted of a crime, just failing to do your job or damaging the reputation of your employer.

Hard to defend that he hasn't already done this, and continues to do so. Many of his policies have been ruinous and there is plenty to charge him with, even if he does not go to jail.

How disturbing for the ladies of the "View" to laugh and joke around with someone who is facing federal charges. The federal charges that he is facing along with the impeachment trial does lend to such frivolity. I can't imagine anyone in the media allowing Scooter Libby a forum like this much less joking around while he was facing federal charges.

I thought Whoopie was understanding his case, until she flipped it. That was a case of misunderstanding him though, and not necessarily disagreeing with him. She asked the best questions but Barabara asked the typical Washington media questions, which we've already heard.

How are you going to "admit" to saying something on tape (which is what Barbara was trying to get him to do) when you haven't actually heard the tape? That man is not stupid.

You could lighten up. He definitely isn't innocent. But he's funny and cute .. kind of a male Dem Sarah Palin ( with federal charges hovering around). Yes, this whole debacle is serious; but Blago is enjoying his last few moments of fame and it's mildly entertaining...it also helps fill out the news cycle.

This will not end well for Blago. I pray that his children will heal from this horrendous episode in their young lives...

We don't know if he is innocent or guilty because the Attorney General can't even get enough evidence to indict the guy. Which means he probably IS innocent otherwise they would not of needed an extra 90 days to try and prove that a trial is warranted.

I think that part of the kick to all of this is that everyone knows he's guilty and is just playing along with the circus act he's creating (because, like it or not, it is outrageous) until the Illinois Democratic party can oust him.

With that said, you do make a good point. It's the exact same thing I was thinking watching Joy whoop it up... because she seemed to be visibly constipated when O'Reilly and Coulter were on.

What's missing in your whole conversation is the PROOF of his guilt. You are getting ALL of your information from the press. The state legislature has NO PROOF because the Attorney General hasn't given them ANY. The ONLY thing the public or the legislature OR the media has to go on is ONE MAN'S WORD, the Attorney General. So because he said it, makes Blago guilty? NO! They have to prove he is guilty, and as an Illinois resident, I am still waiting on that.

Right now, to me, no matter how much weird or funny or crazy stuff he says, he is still innocent to me until they prove otherwise. They are being unfair, and it scares the hell out of me. If they can do it to him, the Governor, they can do it to any of us.
