Move Over, Hooters: New 'Breastaurants' Are Moving In On Market

Good restaurateurs know how to sell the sizzle, and few chains have done a better job of hustling the stuff over the past 2½ decades than Hooters.

But now, inspired by the success of Hooters' wings-toting female staff, restaurants such as Twin Peaks, Bone Daddy's and other local operators with cute waitresses, cold beer and a male clientele are, well, busting out all over. And Texas, where the sole Hooters' franchisee is both the chain's sales leader and No. 1 in locations nationally, is a prime market for the "breastaurant" concept.

Nice play on words, too. Was 'Bearded Clam' taken or too patently offensive for the predominantly christian right, allegedly hetero, married (just lookin'g hun) male customer base? Texas, offering so little to so many for so long, you are too generous. Quit sharing. two towns over from me there's a topless barbershop. big deal. we americans are such puritans. i saw a skit from european candid camera where at one point everyone in this rest. takes their clothes off, and when the person on candid camera returns to their table from the bathroom, everyone is naked, wearing just panties or jock. this was on british t.v., all the women were topless. big deal. men, big difference between admiring, and gawking.
